I apologize in advance for some typographical errors and I'm still working on my skills in writing sad stories so it may not be as sad as it would seem. Anyways, enjoy reading!
WARNING: Major Character Death
"Toss for me one more time, please?" Bokuto begged, in his hands is a volleyball, ready to be tossed.
"I guess that is enough practice for today, it's almost 7:00 PM. Let's go home, Bokuto-san" Akaashi replied.
They were friends ever since the first day Bokuto met Akaashi. He was cold, yes. He is serious, yes. He is a great setter, very much. There is nothing Akaashi lacks, that is what Bokuto thinks. He may not perform well on a match, if Akaashi stands in the same court as him, he feels secured, safe and ready to win at all cost.
While they walk their way home together, Bokuto couldn't get anymore comfortable with the most awkward silence he is having.
"Are you mad cause didn't give you the final toss?" Akaashi opened up.
"No... Yes?" Bokuto stuttered.
Akaashi stopped, it surprised Bokuto a bit. Akaashi turned to face his senior.
"I'm sorry."
After this words left his mouth, he proceeded to walk again. He knew Bokuto still didn't moved from his still-position, but he continued to walk until he fades in the distance.
The very next day, Akaashi didn't showed up for their morning practice.
What happened to him? He was doing great yesterday.
One of his team mates needs to adjust so that someone would toss for the others, since their current setter is nowhere to be found.
"Did you got into a fight?" Konoha questioned. He stared and waited for a response as Bokuto pant.
"No." The unlively tone of his voice didn't seem to convince the other.
Konoha just went with the flow.
The next day, a whole day of practice came in their schedule. It was getting difficult, an official match will come soon but Akaashi still didn't came to school.
Did he forgot about his studies? He's usually the person who takes good care of his grades.
Bokuto took slow and small steps as he walks towards his home. He is tired, so tired from all the practice they did for today. He even thought about stopping by Akaashi's house to check on him, but he already went past their place and he's too tired to even go back.
I felt lonely, as if the same feeling already happened.
A week has passed and still, Akaashi was nowhere near in sight.
"Hey, Bokuto." Konoha, again, called.
"I have no idea. Don't ask me about him. He didn't say anything to me either." Bokuto answered, but he seemed restless.
He wanted to know what was the matter.
Why are you gone for so long?
Later that evening, Bokuto chose to jog for a bit. Saturday morning is what's coming. No school, no need to worry about sleeping all day.
As he was jogging his way, to just anywhere his legs will take him, a familiar person suddenly caught his attention. Of course, it was Akaashi, silently sitting in a cold bench, with nothing but a thick layer of cloth to warm himself in the cold air of the night.
"Akaashi." Bokuto called from behind.
Akaashi turned to face him, he flashed a smile but it quickly faded.
