Chapter 2: The journey starts

1 year passedby in an instant, Lia had patiently awaited for this fateful day.

The day she finally gets to go to the capital of the kingdom.

According to what she had heard, it was a mystical place, she expected to see mysterious phenomena there.

The maids readied up Lia, straightening her clothes, doing her hair and her makeup.

Dion prepared his documents and luggage for this 10 day long trip.

In the past 1 year, Lia had matured significantly, she was well learned in the languages of the world and understood the fundamentals of this world.

"Lia are you ready?."

"Yep!"

Lia came out of her room in a fine dress. Dion was very satisfied with the maids work.

"Ah yes, before I forget."

Dion slipped a ring onto Lia's finger.

"This is a ring of protection. Make sure its always on your finger, even when your asleep. Alright?"

"I understand, dad."

"Very good."

They exited the mansion to see a carriage waiting for them.

The driver was a slim man with a fedora. He had a slightly pointed noce and a handsome looking face.

The carriage he was standing beside was decorated with vibrant colours, Lia was amazed by its beauty.

"Sir Dion, it is wonderful to meet you again!"

"Indeed, it has been some time since I've headed for the capital."

"Well, you know the drill ,Sir."

"Yes, yes, 20 gold coins to go to the capital right?"

"Right you are!"

The man said with a cheery look on his face.

"As always sir, you never disappoint!"

"As always, your still the same as ever, Red."

Red flipped a gold coin and cheekily smiled.

"Its about time for us to set off now! You and your little daughter should get on now!"

Dion and Lia climbed onto the carriage.

Lia couldn't help but touch the carriage in curiosity. It was smooth to the touch. She couldn't help but express her amazement on her face.

"This must be the little missus first time travelling for her to be this excited over a carriage, right?"

Lia realised that her thoughts leaked onto her face and turned red in embarrassment.

"No need to be embarrased miss! This bad boy here is the best of the best I could get my hands on. Its among the highest quality even among carriages!-"

"-and the reason you even got such an expensive carriage was to scam money, am I right?"

Dion said cutting off Red mid sentence.

"Ding ding ding!, you really do know me well Sir Dion!"

"That much was obvious, especially since a trip that normally only takes 10 gold coins, now take 20."

"Ahahahaa... well, you know, I've already given Sir a discount out of respect. The original price would've been 30 but alas, my heart couldn't bear such injustice!"
