A week later Annalise and I are in my room, packing and preparing for the Dalton's country club garden party.
"Matt said that his parents want to meet me." I almost don't believe the words coming out of my mouth, still curious on why they would want to meet me. "Can you believe it? I'm just the nanny!"
Anna gives me a look as she roams through my closet. "Y/n, there's nothing 'just' about you. Besides, wouldn't you want to know the woman who's taking care of your grandchildren?"
I give her a shrug, knowing that she's right as always. As we continue to look at what to pack my panic grows. The pressure is on to make a good impression on Matt's parents, for more reasons than one. Anna seems to notice my apprehension and assures me that everything will be fine.
She pulls out a floral, flowy dress that is the perfect color for my skin tone. The sleeves are off my shoulders and there is a slit up the side for one leg, making it sexy while still perfectly respectable for a country club. After quickly changing into it I spin around, earning cheers and applause from Annalise.
"Well?" I ask, a grin making its way onto my face.
"Even I'd want you to be my daughter-in-law in that dress! You'll have them asking 'Sofia who?' by the end of the night."
The moment is interrupted by a knock at the door, and Matt sticks his head inside. "You ready to go, Y/n?" His eyes widen as he looks me up and down. "Wow, you look..."
"Gorgeous? Radiant? Stunning?" Anna finishes for him, shooting me a grin.
He looks over at her, noticing that there's someone other than me in the room for the first time. "Oh, hello, I didn't realize that you had company."
"I'm Annalise, Y/n's best friend." She holds her hand out for him to shake and he accepts, eyes trailing back over to me.
"I apologize in advance," I say with a grin. Matt laughs and Anna sticks her tongue out at me. I walk over to her and pull her into a hug, squeezing tightly.
"Thank you so much. I love you," I say. She pulls back and pinches my cheeks, making us both laugh.
"No problem, I love you more. I'll get out of your hair now, good luck!" Matt heads out to show her to the door and she turns to me, fanning herself before following behind. I roll my eyes and smile before grabbing my bag and following them out.

Soon, we're all in the car heading toward the Dalton's country club. I'm in the back seat with the kids, trying not to think about how distracted Matt is in the front seat with Sofia.
"Y/n, do you think they'll have fish eggs at the club again?" Mickey asks to my left.
"Yeah," Mason continues, "last time we did this experiment--"
"Uh, let's not do any experiments," I say, not wanting to have to explain anything like that to Matt's parents. "Today is really important for your dad."
"But it's just Grandma and Grandpa."
I try to focus on Mason and Mickey, but Matt and Sofia's whispered conversation keeps drifting back toward me.
"You know how my parents feel about tabloids. They're not going to be happy that our engagement leaked like that."
"I don't get what the big deal is," Sofia hisses. "It's not like they don't want us to get married."
I glance over at the boys but they are busy pointing at things out the window as we turn off the highway.
"Just because they're being polite doesn't mean they aren't pissed too," Matt responds.
