I woke up the next day with a huge headache. I laid in bed for awhile. A grin crossed my face when I remembered the events of last night. Thinking of the way his lips felt against mine made my face turn bright red. I was lost in thought when my phone started buzzing. I looked over and saw a new message from Keith.

Good morning sunshine! I'm out with Kate this morning, but try to get home on time today. I wanna have dinner with you. Have a good day!

I smiled and sent back a quick okay. I put my phone back and got out of bed. I walked into my closet and looked for a shirt to wear. I walked through the closet, turned around, and walked back again. I couldn't find the shirt I was looking for. I turned around and walked out of my room and into Keith's. I walked into his closet and pulled out the first shirt I saw.

I smiled, but sighed. Why does he insist on taking my shirt? He knows I wear purple on Fridays. I pulled off my t-shirt and threw it on his floor. Then I put on my shirt and buttoned it up. I walked back to my room and pulled on a pair of dress pants. I glanced at my phone and looked at the time.

Shit. I'm going to be late.

I quickly threw on some shoes and went to the bathroom to brush my teeth. I grabbed my keys and my phone and started the drive to work.

I arrived at work 15 minutes late. I hurried to my desk and logged in. I quickly went to the mailroom to get my articles for the day. On my way back to my desk, I saw Jared talking to Alex.

"Why isn't it done?" I heard Jared say in an aggravated tone.

"It's almost done, I'm just waiting for them to call back." Alex said while looking at him.

I heard Jared sigh. "Would you like to wait for the call in the unemployment office?"

"No, sir."Alex whispered.

"Then get on the damn phone and call them back." Jared turned around and noticed me watching. His eyes locked with mine. A million thought ran through my mind. Does he know I'm late? Is he going to take away my promotion? Is he going to kiss me again? Does he know I was listening to his conversation?

He finally broke eye contact and walked towards his office. I considered following him in there, but decided it was better to get my work done.

At about noon, I had half of my articles completed. My stomach decided that it was time for lunch, since I had skipped breakfast. I locked my computer and made my way to the elevator. I saw Alex at his desk and asked if he would like to go to lunch with me. He nodded and locked his computer as well. We went into the elevator and went to the main lobby, casually discussing work as we went. We left the building and walked across the street to the nearest sandwich place.

"Get what you want. I'll pay." I smiled at Alex. He was always so nice to me. Granted, we've only known each other a few months. But I've found myself growing fond of his company. He was a very quiet person, when he was alone. He use to go out with me and Keith for guys night, but when his girlfriend left him, he crawled back into his shell and stopped talking to people. I remember he missed work for about two weeks and wouldn't pick up his phone because he was so depressed.
