chapter 13-- tryouts

Angela's pov;

It is the end of school now. School was good, people now know not to mess with me. It's time for tryouts now and I'm pretty sure I will get in. My last class was with Xavier so he said he will take me to the girls locker room to change.
"OK baby, here is the keys. Lock up when your done changing. I'll be out here waiting for you OK?" Xavier said as he hands me the keys. He has the coach get the keys for me. Since I'm the only girl. I said OK and walked in. I put my bags in a locker and go to the bathrooms to change. I don't change infront of people or in an open space. I go into a stall and change.

I put my hair in a ponytail and take the ankle brace off and walk out. Xander is standing there waiting.
"Hey Xandy. Where is Xavy?" I asked him softly.
"Hey babes, coach needed to talk to him real quick. Everyone else should be out on the field. Come on." He says and I lock the door and follow him. We walk to a baseball field and kids are already on the field waiting. Some are on the bleachers such as those who play a different sport. The team is all boys, I'll be the only girl.
"OK listen up, The twins sister is trying out today. Be nice to her. As they said she can cause you a lot of trouble. I want Colten to start off with an easy pitch. Daniel will do a hard ball. Damon will do a curve ball. Angela you have to run the bases to just see how fast you are. Get into your place." The coach sternly said.
I get into the batters block and who I guess is Colten is on the pitchers place.
He trows a easy pitch and I hit it to the end of the field. I run to every base and dodge his throws.
HOME RUN.
Who I guess is Daniel steps up and pitches a hard ball. I hit a homer again while dodging throws easily.
Who I guess is Damon steps up and he looks exactly like Daniel. He throws a curve ball. I hit it and run. He hits me in the arm hard when I'm running to 3rd base. I fall and slide on the ground. The twins come running over to me. While I'm getting up Xander picks me up and stands me up on the ground.
"Guys I'm fine. It didn't really hurt that much. Now chill." I say trying to calm them down.
The team and coach comes running over.
"Angela are you OK? You took quite the hit." Coach asked.
"Yes I'm fine Thank you. My idiot brothers are just very protective." I say as I hit my brothers on the back of the head. The coach nods and the twins hit me back.
"Sorry Angela I didn't mean to throw it that hard." Damon says.
"Its OK Damon. It happens. It didn't even hurt that much." I say and he nods.

After I take a turn at pitching...

"Angela you are on the team. Congrats to the first girl in Los Angeles Highs baseball team!" The coach announces.

"CONGRATULATIONS BABY GIRL!" The twins shout. I sneak behind them while they were talking to the team and jump on Xander's shoulders for a ride. He holds my legs on his shoulders and my hands are in his hair playing with it.

"Angela we need to introduce you to the team. You can trust them OK so please don't scare them?" The twins ask me.

"If you are with me when I'm by them, I'm fine. Just until I know their nice." I said to them.

"How about they come over this weekend for a night or 2? One of us will always be with you and you can get to know them." The twins ask.

"OK, I'm good with that." I say.

"OK here is the team.
Colten Barnes the fastest runner out of all the boys.

Boys this is our baby sister Angela. She is 13 almost 14 and a freshmen taking some senior classes.
Angela they are all seniors except Cole, he is a freshman taking Senior classes too." Xavier explains.
I wave smiling. "Hey guys."
"Hey Angela. Welcome to the team. Your brothers bragged about you for days." The quad 4 said at the same time.
"Welcome to the team." Kyle says annoyed.

What put his panties in a twist?

"Hi Angela." Cole says.
"Ciao angela. Benvenuto nella squadra." Colten says.
*Hi Angela. Welcome to the team.*
"OK let's get home baby. Go change and we will wait for you." The twins say and I go to the locker rooms after Xavy got me off of Xandys shoulders.
I take a shower and change. I was walking to the door when my ankle started hurting badly. I suddenly get a flash back of how I hurt it.

Flash back, mentions abuse.

"Hey slut I'm back. Let's play tag." Mike says as I finish cleaning. Oh no. To him tag is I run away from him and if he catches me he can cut me where ever he wants. I run as fast as I can but he catches me and drags me to the living room.
"I say that your ankle needs something on it. Let's do that shall we?" He says. "No please not my ankle." I beg. He doesn't listen and cuts it. I scream in pain and he laughs. After that he starts beating me. The storm is getting harder by the minute and mike grins all of a sudden.
"I think that you should take a long shower slut." He drags me to the back door and pushed me outside in the storm and locked the door so I can't get in. I'm locked out there all night standing in the rain.

Flash back over

I walk out scared of the memories. This was my nightmare the other night.
"Angela are you OK? What's wrong?" Xavier asked reaching forward towards me. I flinch away.
"Babes what is it? You're pale." Xander said trying to touch my shoulder. I flinch.
"Let's go to the car OK baby?" Xavier asks. I shake my head.
"Babes do you want to go home or not?" Xander asks angry.
He'll give me back to Mike. No. Not him. I shake my head again.
"Baby, do you want to talk to Tony?" Xavier asked. I nod. I really want Tony right now.
"We got to go home then. Come on." Xavier says and I follow. We go home and the bring me to the living room. Xavier keeps trying to get me to talk. I never did.
Emil was trying to get me to eat. I can't eat right now with the memories still fresh in my mind.
I was laying down on the couch. Xander sat down and put my legs on his lap. The front door opens and closes. Tony and Enzo appeared in the door way. Tony looks at me and walks over to me. He crouched down and looks at me.
"Baby why are you not talking?" He asks softly.
"Flash back." I answer.
"Can Enzo check your ankle to make sure its OK?"
"OK."
Enzo comes over and rolls up my pants leg. My shoes were already off.
"Baby did you take the brace off before tryouts?" He asks.
"Yeah I didn't know if I should keep it on or not." I said lowering my head.
"Baby its OK. A few stitches just opened. Next time keep it on ok? It helps support your ankle when your walking around and playing baseball. Just when you get home rest, don't play too much. Your ankle will get worse if you are always putting pressure on it." He explains.
"Ok." He got the stitching things from a bag and started fixing the stitches. It hurts. After he's done he cleans up and Tony came back over to me.
"Baby I need to know what happened at tryouts. Did you have a flash back during or after tryouts?" Tony asked.
"After, before I left the locker room."
"Was it the same as your nightmare the other night?"
"Yeah."
"Can you tell us what happened in the flash back?"
"Ok, it was when my ankle got hurt. I was 8. Mike had me clean the house after school. When I was done cleaning he wanted to play a game. I knew what his version of games was. He wanted to play tag. I run and he catches me. He brings me to the living room and cuts whatever he wants to. That was how he always played. He cut my ankle like that then beat me. It was storming hard so he dragged me to the backyard and locked me outside in the storm all night. It stopped storming that morning. He found me passed out barely breathing laying in the grass by the backdoor. He left me there till I woke up for school that morning." I finished crying. Tony immediately picked me up and sat down on the couch with me in his arms.
"Baby, that will never happen again ok?" Xavy said.
"Ok." I answer.
"Baby you need to eat." Emil said.
Xavy goes into the kitchen and comes back with some fruit and a glass of water.
"Here. After you eat I need help with the math homework. I'm confused." He said handing me the fruit and water. I nod and giggled. Everyone else who were mad and about to kill someone calmed down after hearing my giggle.

I eat and help Xavier with math then Xander with biology. I finish my homework too.
