—she had always wanted to dance with a partner in the rain. the partner could be anyone, a friend, a sibling, a boyfriend just whoever. she just wanted to dance in the rain with someone that she loved.
unfortunate for her, she thought she would scare off her partner if she did that. just because she liked it didn't mean that other people would be willing to catch a cold so a silly little girl could be childish for a few minutes.
so she kept her desire to dance in the rain to herself, obviously hella embarrassed by it. she looked like she was stopping herself from saying something every time it rained, approaching him, arguing herself (her arms fidgeted with each other, shuffling her feet) and then leaving by kissing him and going back to do whatever it was that she was doing.
this was getting into a bit of a routine. since it rained a lot in london.
it was when kai noticed that she loved rainy days, sitting by the window that he thought of going out for a drive. he was tired too, having just come back from an away game that took the life out of their team. chelsea had lost and he was in a little bit of a sour mood, in desperate need of a little cheering up.
'babe do you want to go out.'
she looked up surprised, the book in her hand lowered a little to give him attention.
'what?' he had just come back and he was so tired. why on earth would he want to go outside?
'do you not want to go outside for a drive? i thought you'd like to.' he asked again a little sheepishly. maybe he had completely misread this and she absolutely hated rain.
she put her book down and decided to face him completely. this wasn't anything serious that needed this sort of confrontational attitude from her but she was scared that he might have figured out something about her that she wanted to keep hidden.
'babe i do like the rain but i just didn't want to bother you. you're so tired and i don't want to jeopardise your time to rest. i know i'm already so demanding and-' she started, but was cut off by kai who waved it off.
'you're not demanding for wanting time with me. i want to go outside with you. i know you like the rain and i know you like to go on drives. don't even argue it you seem like the type to.' she hated how well he knew her.
with a gentle smile, he grabbed her hand and got her to stand so they could go get their coats.
'come on babe, let's have some fun.'
she didn't want to argue his logic. he was right after all.

she had insisted on driving even though he said he wanted to. he couldn't fight her for long, he didn't want to close his eyes by accident and kill them both. he felt livelier with her, even if the temptation to sleep was slowly getting to him.
after a while, she noticed that he wasn't letting go of her hand for her to switch the gear and turned her head slightly to find him sleeping. he looked so cute, head dozing off to the side uncomfortably while his fingers were entangled with hers.
she slowly took her hand out of his and parked the car by the hill.
it was still raining and she just sighed at the sound of the rain hitting the windshield, creating a soft patter of sound.
she looked back at kai and reached back to drape her coat over his arms. it was humid outside but the cold air from the air conditioner in the car would've made him more i'll.
she looked out and decided that she wanted to stand in the rain, and left the car as silently as she could to just lean against the hood of the car to stare out at the city.
it had been a few minutes when kai woke up, greeted by the sight of the girl in front of the car. he was slightly startled; as serene as she looked, she had scared him slightly.
he looked out and felt the urge to just waltz around in the rain. he doesn't know why he felt compelled to but he did.
she didn't seem to notice the sound of the car door slowly shutting so didn't realise that kai had no crept up behind her. his fingers on her waist had terrified her a little but she wasn't as mad when she turned around to look at the boyish smile on his face.
his hair was in his face and her hand instinctively moved up to brush it back. she wanted to look into his eyes. her hands around his face, framing it while his hands moved to her waist, on the edge of circling her frame.
thinking about eyes made her think of the word orbs and she had to let out a little giggle at the cringe of it. darn fanfictions. his eyebrows raised a little yet she just shook it off, continuing to stare at him.
what were they doing, standing outside in the rain without the coats that they had brought, just staring at each other in the eyes for no absolute reason at all apart from feeling comfortable in each other's presence?
without realising, they were swaying in their position. just a gentle lull while the rain started hailing down on them. everything about the rain suggested unhappiness but they were the happiest at that moment.
she placed her head on his chest and just continued to sway in his arms, while his arms completely circled her.
she smiled at her and kissed his chest lightly while he felt a growing warmth within him at the feeling of the woman in his arms.
suddenly feeling a lot braver, she moved away from him a little and leant up to kiss his neck. she felt his smile before she saw it.
he nuzzled his head into her neck as they both continued to waltz around with the rain as their witness.

cringe? yess.
but is it done? also yes.
