The next morning I woke up before my dad, an hour earlier to be exact. I only got like 2 hours of sleep so I went to the kitchen and got coffee, it was old coffee that had probably been sitting out for 1 week. But I drank it any way, it was worth it because I didn't want to fall asleep again. I also grabbed a bruised banana and so almost expired yogurt. My dad doesn't go to the store much, and when he does he doesn't get anything but beer and maybe a little food. I eat my breakfast treasuring the silence. After I finish I run to get my clothes on and brush my teeth then I head out the door. On my way to school I see Kathy the meanest girl in the 6th grade! I covered my face with my books and fast walked down. But it's too late she saw me, "hey Kelly!" She screamed as she was walking over to me. I stop and gave out a loud sigh. "Yes?" "Were did you get your shirt? The trash can!" "I don't know." "why do you always smell like that? Are you an alcoholic? Don't worry I totally understand" "I'm not!" I snapped back and then ran off as I faintly heard her say "whimp!" I brushed it off and kept running. When I arrived at school I made sure too mind my please and thank you's. I stayed out of trouble and hardly said anything all day. In 2nd period I got a note that said, "Kelly report to counselors office at once." So I walked down and when I arrived, I gave the front desk lady the note and she told me to go on back to the very last door it was opened just a crack. I peeked in and then knocked on the door. "Come on in Kelly, have a seat." She said as if she already knew me. I slowly walked in and took a seat. "So Kelly your teachers have been kind of worried about you, they have talked about you and stuff and they are really worried and I have a couple questions for you if that is okay?" "That's fine." I say in an awkward voice. "Okay great, so is any thing bothering you? School work, home stuff, friends, any thing at all?" I think in my head, "oh no! I cant tell her, or else my dad... I quickly stop thinking to speak. "Well I am falling behind in math and I'm having a lot of trouble making friends." "Well do you think there is anything I can do?" "No... I mean, not really I'm just fine being alone and I'm doing extra work after school to get my grade up." "Oh well are you sure their is nothing I can do?" "Yes mam'." I say. "Well I guess I'll send you back to class." "Okay thank you very much mam'." " "No problem." I the room with the door open just a crack, how it was before. "bye." the front desk lady says with a big bright smile. "bye." I say back. The whole school day was a blur it went by fast. I walk home, but I take the longest possible route, because it's a longer time away from my dad. Sometimes I wish I could just run away, but I know if I try something bad would happened and even if I never get found I will get punished.
