i wake up in my queen-sized bed, blinded by the light coming from my window. i get up and close the window, glancing at my phone on the bedside table seeing that it's 9:34 am. i move to my bathroom to brush my teeth and make my hair look a little more decent.

i leave my room to go downstairs for breakfast since i'm already ready. as i opened the door, i see my bodyguard, vinnie, was about to knock.

"oh, um, hello," his raspy voice says, looking a bit awkward.

"hey," i respond, looking down.

"the chef wanted to let you know that breakfast is ready," he says, looking at me seriously.

"oh ok, thanks," i tell him, giving him a smile and a pat on the shoulder as i walk out of my room, past him.

going down the stairs and into the kitchen, i see my mom and dad already sitting at the table.

"hello, sweetheart, come join us," my dad says looking up from his papers with his coffee in hand. i don't respond to him as i sit with them at the table.

"so, what's the plan for today?" he questions, now giving me his full attention.

"well, i have archery later today, and i'm gonna get my nails done. i think that's all." i respond, and he nods at me, "what about you?" i question back.

"just business," he says, evading my question.

"just like always..." i mumble, restraining myself from rolling my eyes.

when i finish my breakfast, i leave the kitchen, going back up the spiral set of stairs. as i walk down the halls to my room, i hear someone run up behind me. i look back and see vinnie trying to catch up to me.

"hey vincent." i smile.

"hey, what's your plan for today?" he asks, returning the same smile to me.

"same as usual; on thursdays, archery and nail appointment." i respond, as we walk down the halls together, back to my room. "i'm gonna change, i'll be right back."

"ok," is all he responds with.

i go into my room to get changed while vinnie waits out outside my door. i put on my archery uniform and grab my bag, leaving the room once again.

"ready to go?" vinnie asks with a big smile.

"yup," i say, returning the smile.

he follows me out of the house and opens the car door for me. i give him a polite 'thanks' and i notice that he blushes a little bit before saying 'of course'. he gets in, and the driver drives off.

we stop at the nail salon. vinnie leaves the car quickly to come over to my side and open my door as i'm still unbuckling. we go inside and i sign in to my appointment. vinnie waits beside me as i get my nails done, seeming way too interested.

when they finish, and i pay, vinnie walks me out and opens my door for me once again.

"you know, you don't have to open ever door for me," i tell him, laughing.

"yes, i do," he says seriously, with a small trace of amusement in his smile.

"whatever," i say, playfully rolling my eyes while chuckling and shaking my head. we both get in the car and he sits beside me in the back again.

"do you like my new nails?" i say, smiling as i holding out my hands. he holds both my hands and examines them, making me blush and butterflies erupt in my stomach. he looks at them and smiles, then looks at me with an even bigger smile.

"they're very pretty," he responds.

"aww, thank you, vin," i say, happy that i've gotten the attention i desired from him. he then kisses my hands gently. a short time later, we arrive at my archery class.

"are you sure you don't need me to come with you?" vinnie asks seriously with one eyebrow raised.

"trust me, i don't think any of my dad's enemies are gonna come for me at an archery class." i tell him with one eyebrow raised while chuckling, as if he was being ridiculous.

"ok, but be safe. we'll be waiting in the parking lot just in case something does happen." he informs me, still giving me a look of suspicion.

"ok, bye vinnie!"
"bye!"

i walk away towards the rest of my class. the archery class takes place in the forest, not far from my father's private property.

i get to my class and say hi to everyone and my teacher comes over to me.

"hey kiddo, ready to start?" my teacher asks, giving me a wide smile.

"like always," i say confidently. i've always been good at archery.
