Eddie and beverly spent the whole day together catching up and hanging out. They even hung out with ben at one point. For the first time in a long time, eddie felt like he belonged. He had forgotten how warm hugs felt, how beautiful it was to smile, how freeing it was to cry and vent.

He almost felt like it was too good to be true, as if this was another dream. For the past months he had been having vivid dreams of the times before. Before everything. Before rich got with the bowers gang. Before he left them. Before everyone split up. Before hockstetter. He shivered at the thought and hugged bev, her embrace always seemed to make him feel better.

Once the day was done and the sun had begun to set, making the sky a beautiful mix of red, orange, and pink. He couldn't help but frown though. That meant eddie had to go home. He feared that reality would taint this blissful dream. Though he knew he couldn't avoid it any longer when beverly and ben told eddie they had to leave.

They all said their goodbyes before breaking off and going their separate ways. Eddie looked up at the sky and quickened his pace, knowing it was already much past his curfew. He knew he was going to get a beating and every minute he wasn't home, it was only going to get worse.

Eddie yelped as he was pulled off into one of the many alleyways that branched off from the dim rode. His eyes closed shut and he pushed away the much larger patrick hockstetter.

"P-patrick! Not tonight! I'm late home I'll be in trouble!"

He desperately tried to plead though was cut off by a hand up his shirt.

"Like i give a fuck. I'm taking what's mine now shut the fuck up and take it."

Patrick growled and eddie knew there was no escape. He had been through this many times and he knew that if he struggled it would only worsen his case. So he stopped struggling and held back tears as patrick had his way with him.

"Thanks for the quicky, whore"

Patrick sneered as he zipped up his pants and left, leaving a half naked and sobbing eddie on the floor of the dirty alley. Though it hurt, eddie forced himself up and wobbled his way home. The poor boy was shaking with fear, knowing his punishment was going to be bad.

As he walked through the door and closed it behind him, he saw his father sitting on the armchair in the living room. The tall burly man was staring daggers at him, gripping a beer bottle by the neck before taking a swig and standing up.

"You're an hour late."

The man growled out, his voice gravelly and slightly slurred letting eddie know he was drunk. The smaller boy gulped and tried to let out a shaky excuse but he was cut off by a slap to the face. He fell to the ground and clutched the swollen cheek.

"I don't want your fucking excuses!"

He boomed, gripping the neck of the beer bottle and bringing it to his lips, finishing the rest of the liquid inside.

"You know the punishment."

He barked and eddie nodded, standing up and holding back tears.
