Reds advice gave Dion the chills. He knew Red well enough to know that this was serious.
"Get ready sir, we're about to head into the danger zone."
Dion took a deep breath and braced himself.
Red and Dion anxiously awaited the moment they enter the territory of the whispering woods.
Meanwhile, Lia felt could not understand the situation , but she understood that it was a situation that concerns their safety.
Though Her curious heart wished to explore the forest, she knew it was far too dangerous to do so and would only bring trouble to her father.
All of a sudden, the winds calmed down, the forest turned completely silent. The trees large enough to cover the skies, preventing light from entering.
Red took out his lamp and looked at their surroundings for a bit before moving on.
A few minutes passed, and nothing of note happened, this made Dion uncomfortable. Something felt very off.
It worried him that the situation went as planned.
A few years back, he had learnt the hard way that the world does not endorse perfection, and on that day he lost his beloved wife.
Dion glanced at Lia for an instant as he reminisced about his wife.
All of a sudden, Dion heard a soft yet sharp voice in his ear.
"Dion, help...... me...."
His stoic face crumbled as he heard that voice, it was his wife's voice.
Deep in his heart he couldn't help but hope supernatural entities existed, his heart was tempted to look for the location the voice was coming from.
Despite knowing it was too good to be true, he was slowly being influenced by the whispers.
"Dad are you alright?"
Dion was snapped back to his senses.
"Yes, I'm fine Lia."
Lia had noticed the change in her father's expression and felt confused, her father was sweating more than before, as though something had happened.
She took a quick look around but she couldn't find anything that could possibly make him feel threatened.
Red was facing similar circumstances as well, however, Red had a different response compared to Dion.
His face occasionally twisted in anger, he looked as though he would punch a hole straight through you if you irritated him more than he already was.
_______________________________________Minutes passed, then hours. Lia felt that something was off, they've been in the forest for far too long now.
"Dad, does it usually take this long to go through a forest?"
"Now that you mention it.... how long have we been in here?"
Suddenly, Dion realised something horrifying. His eyes widened in shock and his mouth gaped.
"RED, CHECK THE ROUTE."
"What?"
Then Red checked the route and realised they were headed right into the heart of the forest. His face twisted in horror.
"Crap! They've been enchanted by the woods!"
Red attempts to pull back the horses and reroute back to their original path.
But horses were physically much stronger than humans.
He couldn't even make them budge.
Red saw the colours of the trees around them become a vibrant red. Fear could be seen in his eyes.
