Ch. 00: Introduction
My name is Isabella Marlino. Society has labeled me as ‘obsessed’.
It was like someone had taken a black marker and had written the word ‘obsessed’ across my forehead for all the world to see. That one word had torn down all of my defensive walls and made me feel naked and childlike. Obsessed. I hated that word.
On the rare occasion that someone has the blatant courage to say it to my face; I’ve learned that the best rebuttal is a smile. Don’t let them see how much they hurt you. Don’t let them define you. Or, at least, that’s what my father always said. But my smiles are strained and the act is old.
It’s hard to pretend when you can’t tell the difference between your friends and your enemies.
I don’t regret that. If I said that I did, that would mean that I would regret Caleb. And Caleb was my saint. Caleb was the wall between the media and I. But when Caleb went on tour, the obsession always came back. And this time, the world had decided to take this battle one step too far…
