Killua woke up grumpy, he already wasn't excited for today. His neck hurt, he didn't sleep very well, and he woke up earlier then necessary, he could tell by the nonexistent sunlight on his eyelids.
He felt around for Gon before remembering the his boyfriend would be gone for a daytrip with Leorio and Kurapika. Killua felt a bit hurt that they didn't invite him. He understood that they wanted to spend time together, but didn't understand why it was without him. He would've taken time off work to join them with whatever they were doing.
Killua sat up and rubbed the sleep from his eyes then opening them. He looked and saw that the curtain was closed in the room, so it could actually be any time. He then checked the clock on the wall and saw that it read 9:31 a.m. He groaned, realizing that he had work in an hour and a half.
Of course he appreciated Gon for closing the curtains to let him sleep in a bit, but he could've accidentally been late if he had woken up later than 10 a.m.
'Don't be so pessimistic, Killua. Don't worry about that, it didn't even happen.'
He got out of bed before doing his routine. It consisted if brushing his teeth, taking his medication, 'brushing' his hair, and getting clothes on.
He walked to the kitchen to make himself something, but he saw a plate with two pancakes on it and a note.
It read as follows:
Good morning babe ♡
I hope you slept well! I made you these, so you don't have to worry about making anything. I hope you have an amazing day and I'll see you later this afternoon!

Killua smiled at the note. He put it into his wallet along with the others he's gotten. They meant a lot to him.
He made a mental note to get a keepsake box to put all the notes into, because his wallet was starting to get pretty full. That fact made him smile though, knowing his boyfriend cared so much about leaving him a sigh that he's there as he knew about Killua's anxiety and abandonment issues. Every time he left one, it really made Killua's day.
Killua ate the pancakes quickly before rushing out the door, he had spent too much time in his own head and now he could be late for work.

Killua finally got off work after what felt like ages. As he walked out to his car, his mind drifted to the daytrip gang. He wondered how it went and what they did.
He sent Gon a text saying he'd be home soon, then got into his car and drove home. It was always a pretty calm trip home because he used the back roads instead of the busy streets where everyone and their brother were getting off work at the same time.
He pulled into the driveway and was a bit surprised to see 2 other cars there.
'What's going on?'
Killua realized that Kurapika and Leorio were probably over hanging out, so his mind was more at ease.
He turned his key and opened the front door, kicking off his shoes as he did so. Before he could do anything else, small hands grabbed him. He yelped in surprise before he was dragged to the kitchen.
He was spun around and then was only more confused.
Gon, Leorio, Kurapika, and Alluka stood smiling at him. There were cute little decorations around the room and an obviously homemade cake was sitting on the table.
"Surprise! Happy birthday!"
Killua smiled, "What is all this?"
The four devious planners smiled back, and Gon spoke. "Well, we never really celebrate your birthday, so we all decided we were going to."
The pieces in Killua's brain clicked.
"There was no daytrip, was there?"
Gon rubbed the back on his head sheepishly and stuck his tongue out a little, "No, sorry for lying to you."
Killua shook his head, "It's alright! I understand why."
As they all caught up, he looked to Alluka and saw that little mischievous look in her eye. He then understood what he needed to know.
They chatted for quite a while and had fun before everyone had to go. They said their goodbyes and then the house only had him and Gon.
They got ready for bed and laid down soon after. When they both got comfy, Gon told Killua the fun little stories from going to the store to get presents.
Listening to his lover speak lulled him to sleep. He smiled a little, then wondered how he'd tell Gon that his birthday was actually tomorrow.

Hi guys! Sorry for being a little late. I'm publishing this on the July 8th instead of July 7th, which is Killua's birthday.
And yes, the did cuddle all day on Killua's actual birthday 😤
If you're a little confused on how everything laid out, here's a quick little run-down. Alluka told Gon that Killua's birthday was on July 6th, so they planned Killua a party and used a daytrip as a cover up to go get him presents and set everything up. Killua was confused because it wasn't actually actually his birthday.
