It had been almost a week since Asher Taylon had come home. Since then, two more children have gone missing - a boy and a girl both in the third grade. There was no success in tracking a suspect, as the delivery of the supposed fingerprints from the Paxtons' was delayed due to a "mix up at the border between Willinton and Sacherton". Asher Taylon was still not himself and could not recall anything from his incident. All things considered, the case had ceased into a dead end.
But most importantly, Louise had yet to hear from Henderson about any sort of investigations into the link between the dogs and the children. As she was sitting in her dining room and watching the evening news, she wondered if Mr Denaheim had ever talked to Henderson at all after that other day. He must've thought that Louise's idea was pathetic right from the beginning, and was only saying what she wanted to hear to save her self-esteem.
What if I was wrong? Louise thought. And Henderson was right all along about the dogs just being dogs? That would've been debilitating. And all those times Louise had spent thinking about possible theories from the past few weeks would be all for nothing.
She decided to see Mr Denaheim again to ask for his advice. Surely, he would have something to say that would make some sort of sense about all this.
"Hello? It's Louise Thompson. Yes. I wish to see Mr Denaheim again soon, possibly tomorrow, if he is available?" asked Louise on the phone.
"Of course. Mr Denaheim is busy tomorrow though, he has to go somewhere for a conference, but I'll arrange a meeting for you the next day?" The mayor's secretary asked on the other end of the line.
"That would be wonderful. Thank you." Louise said before hanging up.
