"Could you get me a computer? Actually, anything that has a keyboard is fine."
A frail, brown haired teenager laid in a bed with white sheets and blue striped pillows. The walls were covered with painted, animated animals to give color to the blank room.
A man in a white lab coat silently nodded and exited the room without a word. The girl smiled, having known her request was accepted.
A few minutes later, the doctor came back with an Apple MacBook, surprising Kounna. "Fancy~" She whispered, gently taking the device from the doctor. Her veins were clearly visible on her arms, trembling with every movement. The computer felt like metal in her arms, though she didn't mind one bit. Instead, she was more than happy to feel the weight bring down on her shoulders.
"Thank you."
Her lips made little movement as she spoke, softly closing it right after. Her voice was hoarse, as if she had not spoken in years. The doctor nodded in response. She let the device load, startled to see it was the doctor's own possession. She raised an eyebrow and glanced at the doctor.
"You don't mind?"
She asked. The doctor slowly shook his head, though not reassuring the Kounna at the least. She treated the computer with great care. The password was quickly skipped by, since there was a piece of yellow tape and a series of letters and numbers attached to the top left side of the computer.
Kounna's fingers trembled as she tapped the keys. The sound, and feeling of each touch made her feel nostalgic, as it has been long ago since she had felt anything within her hands.
"You mind if I download anything?"
Kounna lifted her head up temporarily. The doctor shook his head.
Kounna tapped as fast as she could, — which was not considered quick — with a bright smile on her face. She waited as an orange app with a white 'W' designed on it load, rather quickly so.
She signed in with excitement and repeated her old username and password in her head. The old white screen with the orange 'W' placed in the middle, as the opening page of Wattpad made her beam.
999+
Was in an orange oval in the lower right side of the screen. She sincerely smiled, and tapped on the notification sign.
"Where are you?"
"Pls come back miss!"
"AUGH!!! Can someone tell me why the author isnt responding to us anymore?"
"I really want you to come back miss! No pressure tho!!! <3"
"I can't wait anymore! Plsssssssss!!!!"
"Miss, I don't mean to be rude, and I apologize in advance for what I'm about t..."
"Wait, HOLD UP. I'm a new follower and I'm seeing that you haven't updated in 3 yea..."
Kounna let out a raspy giggle as she saw that her followers had taken over her conversation board. She clicked the button to the lower left of the screen that was shaped like a house, bringing her to the homepage that she dearly missed.
Tears welled in her eyes as she felt a wave of emotions she couldn't describe.
She clicked on her profile that she used to spot constantly everyday that brought her to her profile page.
Kounna clicked on "Conversations", making her see millions of conversations started by her followers. Some of them even started a petition to the government to check her personal information, and see why she was gone for so long.
Kounna admits that she was a bit weirded out by this, but was still moved nonetheless.
She clicked on, "Post a message..." next. She thought of what to type for a few moments, get fingers grazing over her keyboard. She bit the inside of her cheek as she decided on one simple sentence.
As her frail and skinny fingers tapped on the keyboard, she felt anxiety rushing over her. Her finger swirled the keypad that was placed at the end of the keyboard in a rectangle, circling the "Post" button. She decided to click "Announce this to my followers" first, to let a little anxiety out.
The room was silent as she bit her bottom lip, chewing it.
Kounna glanced at the doctor for support. The doctor noticed immediately and softly smiled. He nodded. The computer made a clicking sound as her words were spread through the entire world.
"I'm back."
