I lie at my desk, relaxing. Its one of those days where everything is just.. complete. Me and my family are having delicious barbecue for dinner, as Summer is almost here, and I already finished my classwork, since its study period.
Then, I get called to the principal's office. This is the part where the story starts, and thus this is the most expositional part, I would say. As I get up to walk to the principal's office, everyone wondering why I always get called there despite seemingly being one of the best kids in the class.
My name is Willford Dodecagon Anderson. I'm a freelance investigator that works for multiple things such as vouchers, favors, endorsement, but mainly cold hard cash. I know I'm only twelve years old, but it gives me the upper hand as noone expects a pre-teen to be good at investigation.
I sigh. The best moments in the life are the ones that are the shortest. Those little gaps in between conflict and challenge, I call those "weekends". Anyways, I walk into Principal Harris's room, being careful to shut the door quietly.
"Hello, Willford." my principal says.
"hello, Sir."
"I believe I have a new mission for you, unfortunately," he says. "There has been a new power-broker on the loose, And your job is to find and turn them in. Leo " he explains.
I'm assuming you're confused, you see Principal Harris is my employer. But most usually call him "prince" when he's not around. He gives me cases to solve, and in return I get higher grades and additional benefits, assuming I complete them.
And I always complete them.
"Got it sir, when do you expect me to finish?" I ask.
"I expect you to complete the mission in the maximum of 1 month," He explains. "remember, you're my best investigator. Don't disappoint me. You are dismissed."
After school, I head home, greet my mom, and go to my room. I call Leo.
"Yo, what's up Will? Prince gave me some info, And I've found out some stuff." He says. "The broker's codename is Robin. And I've also gathered some suspects, try checking 'em out. Its in your drive."
And sure enough, I check my drive. It's there, and it's got five people on it. I tell Leo, My main informant, forensics engineer, and best friend that I've got it.
"Hey, while you're still there, have you found out how to solve a rubik's cube yet?" I ask intrigued.
"not yet, but when I do, I'll crush you!" He says jokingly.
"ha, as if. Call you later." I respond.
In truth, I was actually worried if he would be faster than me. I don't practice as much anymore, seeing as I always have work to do. I sigh.
Another day, another case.
