TRIS’ POV
I wake up on a warm day in the summer.
I get up and hear a clank in the kitchen.
I rub my eyes and furrow my brows.
I decide to investigate.
I slowly open my door. I get out and close my door quietly. I walk down the stairs softly.
I walk into the kitchen and see the worst site of my life.
My parents, brother. Dead.
Tied up in a chair with blood all over them.
I look around the kitchen for any blood trails.
I see one that leads to the knives.
I slowly walk towards the knives.
I pull one out and see it covered in blood.
I put it back.
I rush up the stairs to get my phone.
I dial 911.

Ba-bye - 911
I hang up.
I have to do something about this, but first, let me tell you about myself.
My name is Beatrice Lili Prior. Call me Beatrice, I swear that will be your last word.
I have been boxing and taking Martial Arts since I was 8.
I also play sports, like softball, soccer, volleyball and basketball.
My mom and dad are — were — lawyers.
I’m 15 and my brother is — was — 17.
My mom’s name was Natalie Ann Prior.
My dad’s name was Andrew Dane Prior.
And my brother’s name was Caleb Flynn Prior.
I was closest to my mom.
I finally here sirens so I go to the door and open it.
I wait outside.
I see an ambulance, a fire truck, a few blue and white (police cars), and two black Chevy Flex Fuel Suburbans.
The ambulance pulls up in front of my house with the rest of the cars in back of it.
A guy steps out from the driver’s seat and a couple from the back carrying beds.
The guy comes up to me.
“Hello ma’am, I’m Jones, we just want to head inside and investigate,” he says gesturing to the crewe behind him. I nod.
“Sure, right this way,” I lead them into the kitchen.
All of the females gasp.
I chuckle.
“Okay, thank you ma’am. And I believe someone is waiting for you outside,” Jones says. I nod and walk back and out the door.
I see someone getting out one of the Chevy’s.
He wears a slick black suit with a black tie.
He wears dark tented Oakley sunglasses.
He also has a small cappuccino stain to the right of his pocket.
He also has some on his shoe.
He walks up to me.
“Hello, Tris Prior,” he says holding out a hand to shake. I shake it reluctantly. “Now, I know you are wondering who I am, so I’ll tell you. I worked with your parents, in the FBI,” he says. I shake my head multiple times.
“No way, they were just lawyers with two kids, they aren’t possibly FBI agents,” I shake my head laughing.
“Well, they were, and if they weren’t I wouldn’t know that you are 15, you go to Divergent High, your full name is Beatrice Lili Prior, your brother’s full name is Caleb Flynn Prior and he was 17,” he states seriously. I furrow my eyebrows in confusion. My parents? In the FBI?
“Whoa, okay,” I say.
“They were the best FBI agents out there, your mom was in the field while your dad was in intelligence. My name is Max, I was one of your parent’s best friends, in fact me and my wife are your god parents,” he, ‘Max’, says.
“Oh, I don’t remember having god parents, I guess they never told me,” I mutter thoughtfully.
“Well, I’m here to recruit you,” Max says. I think.
“Can I think about it while I get some things together,” I say.
“Sure, take all the time you need, I’ll be in your kitchen investigating,” he says. I nod and he walks into the house with me following.
I walk up the stairs and into my room.
I walk in and see a glowing, bulky, envelope on my desk.
I open it and find a glowing blue, jewel necklace and a letter.
I unfold the letter and read it;
Dear Beatrice,
By the time you find this, me, your father, and brother will be dead. Me and your father were in the FBI. Our friend, and your god father, will come and recruit you, I want you to say yes. I want you to have this necklace, it was passed down from my mother to me, it has been doing the same for generations. I want you to take it so you have something to remember me by. The most wanted, Jack Clayton, is out to get you. He was our worst enemy back in high school, we, being the FBI agents we are, had to kill his father, so we did. Now he wants revenge on the family. Be safe, Beatrice. I will forever be your #1 supporter, I love you.
- Mom <3
I smile and put on the glowing jewel.
I gather a few outfits, a picture of the family, and a few other things I might need.
I stuff the things into a backpack and grab a couple of shoes.
I put that in my backpack and zip it up.
I walk down the stairs and see Max kneeling next to the blood trail taking samples.
“I made my decision, I will join the FBI, under one condition,” I say making him jump into a stance position. He sighs in relief.
“And what would that be?” he asks.
“I get the case of my family’s death,” I say strongly.
“You got it, welcome to the FBI,” he says smiling.
I won’t do this just to get revenge, I will do this for my mom, for my family.
