The stranger was making strange sound, then I realized that it was panting.
Panting, I thought. Oh, I was so stupid! It must be Cupcake, our dog!
I pressed my face against her warm fur. At least I've got a company.
Minutes, then hours went past. I just sat there with Cupcake in my arms. I was thinking about my parents when sleep finally found me.
I was woken by a terrible noise. It sounded like nails against a black board. It screeched on and on. I covered my ears with my hand, terrified to go and explore my own house. Finally I couldn't take it anymore. I tiptoed to the door and slowly opened it. The noise was coming from the kitchen, so I walked quietly towards it. The kitchen was just around the corner now. I took a deep breath, closed my eyes and went in. When I opened my eyes, I saw nothing. I let out a sigh of relief. But then, I heard the noise again, this time closer.
I slowly turned around and saw his familiar, ghostly white face just as the lightning pierced through the flapping curtain.
