Seventeen year old Brooke Mayfield has the perfect life. Straight A's, great friends, supporting family- everything is going well. She's attending 11th grade at Rainfield High School with friends she's had since kindergarten. An aspiring author, she spends most of her time reading and writing when she isn't working on her schoolwork or babysitting her younger sister, Addison. All she wants is to publish her own story, fall in love, and live happily ever after.
Alex Hunters has a less than perfect life. Coming from a troubled family, he finds he can't be bothered to behave and can often be found vandalizing his school or picking fights around town. After being kicked out of his eighth school in a row, he finds himself stuck at Rainfield High- and he isn't happy about it.
When these two worlds collide, both teens find themselves thrown into a very odd relationship. As annoying as he is, Brooke finds herself curious to find out about this rebellious boy. And as hard as Alex tries to push her away, she doesn't seem to take the hint and leave him alone.
