"Yea, and he said I was one of the hottest girls he'd ever seen," my friend Olivia said, talking about the third guy that had already come up to her in this one night.
I don't know why I had followed my friends to yet another party when it was just totally not my scene. I mean it's not that I didn't like parties, I just didn't necessarily like them. Okay, that probably made no sense, but you get what I mean. My friends were gorgeous and I was just that plain girl from school that nobody looked twice at. Not that I was ugly or anything, it was just that compared to them, I was nothing.
There was a point in time when I used to dress up all nice and go out, and that was a year ago. My actual best friend Molly and I used to go to a party every weekend, and believe it or not, we'd get hit on by so many guys, whether or not they wanted to get in our pants. But after she had moved to Europe, I never really felt the same, I guess I just stopped caring about parties and that kind of stuff.
I mean it's not like my other friends, Olivia and Jenna were much of a support system. Honestly, sometimes I think they just hang out with me so they can look better in front of guys. I mean c'mon, they barely involve me in conversation and they always make sure to look ten times better than me.
So here I was, sitting at the bar yet again while they gossiped over each boy that came their way and asked for their numbers. How fun for me-
"Well hello?" Olivia snaps her fingers in front of my face, "Savannah?"
"Oh, what, yea?" I snap out of my thoughts, focusing my attention on the girl in the barstool across from me.
"I told you she's kinda strange," she giggles with the boy beside her, "anyways this is Thomas, he thinks you're pretty."
"Huh?" I question, not understanding if this was some joke.
"I don't think she's interested," she says quickly, "but I'm Olivia."
Rolling my eyes, I turn back around and turn my attention to the bartender, signaling her to get me another drink.
I was so used to Olivia and her childish ways. Any guy that ever found me attractive, she'd find some way of getting him to talk to her instead. It's like she took it as an insult that a guy would ever come up to me instead of her, and so it was her mission to prove that she could always win them over.
"Hey, uh," he speaks up, "Savannah right?"
My eyes widen a bit, and I swivel back around on my barstool to face him, "yea hey."
"Thomas." he extends his hand.
"Savannah." I smile.
"Hey, I'm back," Jenna approaches, finally back from the bathroom where she had to fix her makeup for maybe the tenth time tonight, "ooh who's this?"
"This is Thomas," Olivia smiles, "he was just saying hello to me."
"Actually it was to Savannah," she politely smiles, "so yea I came here alone I was just-"
"Oh my god wait Sav," Olivia cuts in, "you're not still a virgin right?"
I almost spit out the drink that the bartender had brought me a few moments ago. Surely I had heard the wrong thing.
"I'm sorry, what?" I laugh, maybe she was joking.
"I just remembered when you said you were like scared of men or something." she shrugs, acting as if that was the most important memory in the world to her at this point
"Oh my gosh yea," Jenna chimes in, "she said she was scared of like sex and blowjobs."
I furrow my eyebrows looking at the two girls, confused as to what in hell they were doing sharing the information I had told them in secrecy in front of a random boy at the pub.
