Nevaeh's POV
"Soooo... I'm supposed to believe that you're my mysterious half-brother that I've never heard of, nor seen before, and we both somehow ended up in the same club at the exact same time, and coincidentally ran into each other tonight?" I ask in utter disbelief.
"Yes," Augustine says, attempting to reassure me. "I know it's hard to believe right now, but I would love for us to sit down and discuss this together. I want to explain everything I know about our family's past," he says sincerely.
"How about we meet up tomorrow?" Ezekiel proposes, grinning at me. "I can take you out, wine and dine you at one of those famous steak houses, and after our romantic date, baby girl, you and I can do all types of talking at my place," Ezekiel says, lightly caressing my cheek.
"You've got some nerve," I say, mean-mugging him and forcefully removing his hand from my cheek.
I'm not going to lie, I do find Ezekiel very attractive, but the way he carries himself is very unattractive to me. He's way too forward, practically begging for my attention.
"Honestly, you could be my girl if you would stop playing so damn hard to get," Ezekiel says with a smirk on his face. I roll my eyes at his statement because he is acting too damn thirsty.
Obviously, Ezekiel gets a kick out of seeing me frustrated because he keeps trying to get with me even though I have made it abundantly clear that I am not interested in him.
"This is why I can never date a light-skin," I thought to myself.
"Anyways... moving right along," Augustine says, intervening in our conversation.
"Does tomorrow work for you?" Augustine asks curiously. "I guess so, but we're not meeting up at my place," I say cautiously.
I honestly am not convinced at all. The timing of things seems way too coincidental for me to believe. This all sounds too planned, like a setup...
"Okay, let's have our discussion over dinner tomorrow at a restaurant," Augustine says, smiling.
"Sounds good," I say, confirming his plan.
"Can we exchange phone numbers?" Augustine asks as he pulls out his iPhone from his pocket.
"Yeah," I say hesitantly, gently taking his phone from his hand and inserting my number. "I'll see you tomorrow, Vaeh," Augustine says before walking away. Sadly, light-skin didn't get the memo that our conversation was over.
"The offer will forever be on the table, ma," he says with optimism in his voice. I roll my eyes and walk away from him. I have had enough of his games for tonight, and I need to find Harmony so that we can go home.
Searching through the crowd, I finally find her at the bar area, talking to the bartender.
"YoooOOuuu kNooow.... ummm YoU'RE VeeRRryy SEEEXXYYY," a very drunk Harmony manages to slur to the bartender as he pours her another round. I don't know what type of bullshit the bartender is trying to pull, but he obviously can see that she does not need any more alcohol in her system.
"Come on, mamas," I say as I approach her seat, ready to help her up and to the car. "nOO wAit... theee bARtenDer ANd I aRE TaLKIng, ANd I ThiNK hE LiKeS MEEEEEE," she says, slurring all of her words.
"I think it's time for us to go," I say as I help her up from her seat and walk her to the car.
I gently help her get into the passenger seat and buckle her up.
"WaaaaiiT.... beFoRRR WeEee LeAVeee I neED toO gIVEEE ThEEE bArtenDer My PhoNE numBeeer," Harmony says as I close her door and get into the driver's side, starting up the car.
