I'm picking 2 numbers at random here (I didn't even read through the prompts list yet lol), use whichever you want, however you want- numbers 12 and 48. You can use whatever character you want, just throw a little Colby in there at some point for me. 🤣 And, just for fun, let's have a scene where someone get stuck in an elevator. idk why.

prompt 12: "He has his heart set on it. Trust me."

prompt 48: "And, even if you don't feel the same, that's okay—I'm always going to be here for you."

summary: you're forced to confront your feelings.

word count: 959

warnings: trapped in an elevator, reader denies her feelings for a little bit

note: decided to do both since they worked together lol, this takes place in the apartment era

"Who do you think's moving in?" you asked, looking over at the stacked boxes by the door next to yours

"Who do you think's moving in?" you asked, looking over at the stacked boxes by the door next to yours.

Colby shrugged. "Dunno. Wanna go look? Be neighborly and all that?"

You snorted. "That's a good way to get killed. This ain't Kansas."

"People get killed in Kansas!"

"Probably because they just go up to their neighbors door like fucking psychopaths. Next thing you'll tell me is people keep their doors unlocked, even when they're not at home."

He stared at you.

"Oh my god, please tell me you don't keep your door unlocked when you're not at home."

"Would it make you feel better if I said I don't?"

You opened your mouth to start to chastise him, but quickly shut it as a man came out of the apartment next to yours. His eyes caught yours, and a smirk spread across his face.

"You my neighbor?" he asked, his pretty blue eyes looking you up and down.

"Uh, yeah," you said. "I'm next to you, and Colby's across the hall."

"So you're Colby," he said, nodding at Colby. "Then, what's your name?"

"Y/N."

"I'm Mickey." His smirk grew as he looked you over again. "Hope I get to see more of you."

"Uh, me too," you stammered. God, could you be any more nervous? Why the hell was he making you so nervous? You wanted to crawl into a hole in the ground and never see anyone again, much less him.

He did, however, get to see you more. It seemed like he was everywhere you went, always greeting you with that pretty smile and showering you in compliments. Somehow, he found himself in your friend group, always coming along to nights out, always being there at Sam's pizza nights. And you always ran off when he got too close, terrified of what could happen if you let yourself feel anything for him. He'd given you no reason to be so scared, but...At the same time, love had never come easily to you. And you didn't want him to be another disappointment. Better to keep him as perfect in your fantasies than to be hurt by the reality.

Colby was insistent, though, that you try. Which was rich coming from him, given his affinity for not pursuing any relationships lest they be clout-chasers or something. But he was sure Mickey was a good guy, and he almost had you convinced of the same.

"I just don't know if it's a good idea," you said as Colby flipped through the channels on his TV. "I mean, dating him? What if that's not what he wants? What if he's just flirting for the sake of flirting?"

"No, he has his heart set on you. Trust me," Colby said. "I know what it looks like to be that head over heels for someone. I see Sam with Kat like that all the goddamn time. It's kinda gross actually."

"I...I just don't know."

"Y/N. He likes you. He wants to be with you. What's the harm in trying?"

"I could get my heart broken."

"But is not already breaking by you denying your feelings?"

"Oh, fuck you. You don't need to be so wise all of a sudden." You stood up. "I'm gonna go get some food. Want anything?"

"Why don't you just Postmates something?"

"And pay all those ridiculous fees? Not everyone's rolling in the YouTube money."

After Colby said he didn't want anything, you left, heading to the elevator. And, as if faith had it out for you, Mickey also got in the elevator. He looked you over, licking his lips, like he always did when he saw you.

"Hey pretty girl," he said, hitting the first floor button. "Whatcha up to?"

"Getting food. What about you?" you asked, proud of yourself for not tripping over your words for once.

"Headin' to work," he said. "Dj-ing at a club tonight. You should swing by when my set ends."

"Oh, I don't—" Your words caught in your throat as the elevator stuttered to a halt, jumping slightly. "Oh, fuck you, Colby!"

"I don't think he had anything to do—"

"—no, he did. Him and the rest of his friends fucking broke the elevator on New Year's. Guess it never really got fixed." You hit the alarm button, feeling the annoyance rise in you. "We'll probably be here a while."

"Well, if that's the case, can I ask you something?"

"I guess."

He took a step closer to you, his pretty blue eyes never leaving yours. "I don't think it's a secret that I'm into you. I think you're the most amazing woman I've ever met and everyday that I'm not with you feels like a day wasted. I have feelings for you, and I can't live another day without you knowing that. And, even if you don't feel the same, that's okay—I'm always going to be here for you, whether it be as a friend or as a boyfriend."

You opened your mouth, ready to answer, but the elevator seemed intent on interrupting you. It jumped back into movement, finally descending to the first floor. You tried to collect yourself as you walked out of the elevator and out the building, Mickey following you. Once you were outside, you turned to him. "Okay. We can try this. We can go on a date, but you better be sweeping me off my feet."

"I don't plan on anything less," he said. "You know, can I be honest with you? I really thought you were gonna turn me down."

You chuckled. "Now, why would I do that? Could make for a cute story that you asked me out while we were trapped in an elevator."
