The sun's rays seeped into the corners of the house, announcing the arrival of morning. Jaeha stood in his suit and tie, looking out the window, with a cup of freshly brewed coffee in his hand.
"Good Morning..." Sakura greeted as she walked past him.
"Morning. I made coffee and breakfast for you," he said while putting his cup down.
Sakura entered the dining area and noticed a bowl of steaming rice with some side dishes neatly placed on the table. Her husband's thoughtful gesture put a smile on her face.
She sat down and took another look at the food before picking up the chopsticks and digging into her breakfast. The rice was perfectly cooked, and the side dishes were delicious. When Sakura considered how well Jaeha can cook, she felt she had struck gold.
"E-eh wait! Join me Jaeha-ssi..." Her face warmed up when she realised she hadn't invited her husband to join her.
"It's okay, I ate earlier," Jaeha chuckled at the flustered Sakura.
"I better get going. Sakura-ssi, please take your time."
Before walking to the front door to put on his shoes, Jaeha placed his cup in the sink. Sakura set down her chopsticks and dashed over to his side to send him off to work.
"Take care of yourself at work Jaeha-ssi."
"You too Sakura-ssi.
----------
Sakura jumped out of the taxi as she arrived at her office after going through morning rush hour traffic. The fare wasn't cheap, but it was better than taking the bus on a Monday morning.
She scanned her ID tag before approaching the elevator. Sakura was dressed in a pastel green blazer and slacks with a white button-up shirt. The outfit accentuated her personality and made her appear more professional than she usually does.
A loud ding caused her to look up from her phone, indicating that the elevator had arrived at the lobby. As she was about to walk in, something made her pause her steps.
Sakura's eyes widened with her mouth slightly hung open when she saw Jaeha standing in the corner of the elevator.
Other employees gave her strange looks as they passed by. Jaeha noticed her and motioned for her to enter.
She walked in and stood beside him, shyly nodding her head as he smiled back.
The elevator ride felt a little awkward. Sakura fiddled with her bag strap as others exited, gradually leaving the two of them to be alone.
*Ding*
"I was so surprised!"
"Who would've thought we're working under the same company!?"
Jaeha and Sakura let out shaky laughs as they exit the elevator. They both felt stupid because they hadn't even asked about each other's occupation.
"People usually reveal these things on dates. I guess this is our fault since we only met a couple of times before this," he chuckled.
"That's true right!? It-"
"Oh Kkura-ya!"
Sakura felt a jolt of electricity hit her when someone called out her name. As the person approached, the clacking of heels became more audible.
"Eh? You know Jaeha sunbaenim!?"
She turned around to see her co-workers. Her thoughts began to race through various ways she could respond to the question.
"E-eunbi unnie! Yena-ya ah, no-"
"No, I was just asking her for help with work," Jaeha chimed in. "So Sakura-ssi, I'll get back to you again okay?"
Jaeha looked at his watch before saying goodbye and walking away from them. With mischievous smiles on their faces, Yena and Eunbi looked at Sakura.
"Yah that's suspicious Kkura-ya!" Eunbi slapped her shoulder.
"You had no interest other than your boyfriend!" Yena smirked.
"I-is Jaeha sunbaenim that popular?"
"Are you kidding me? He's a top dog in the sales department! Not to mention he's also good looking~" Yena fanned herself.
Sakura had no idea they'd end up working for the same company. But now that she knows, she's more interested in getting to know him.
'They're going to be so surprised if they find out he's my husband...'
----------
Phones rang and keyboards clicked around Sakura as she reviewed a document from her subordinate. Her gaze was fixed on each number and word until she was lightly tapped on the shoulder.
"Sunbaenim~ can I have a moment~"
"Oh Hweseung-ah! What's up?"
"About the prices here, is this correct?" The man showed her a document.
Sakura took the paper from him, she quickly scanned the document for any errors. "Mhm, it's all correct, no problems here."
"Really!? Oh that's great sunbaenim~"
"You caught up fast with the job Hweseung-ah."
"It's because I have a cute sunbaenim that trained me~"
"Oh really? I'm sorry but flattery won't get you anywhere~" she teased him back.
'...and I'm already married.'
"Fine... Anyway, thank you sunbaenim. I'll get back to work," Hweseung took the document and walked back to his desk.
She laughed as she watched her hoobae leave. Despite the fact that he was constantly flirting with her, Hweseung proved to be a reliable colleague.
Sakura turned her chair around and was about to resume her work until her phone lit up when she received a text.
"Let's go home together. Wait for me near the bus stop in front of the building later."
When she read his message, a smile crept up her lips. He may not show his emotions often, but she sensed that he cares about her.
The day went on until it was time for them to leave work. Jaeha picked up Sakura near the bus stop and drove them home, just as he had promised earlier.
The music on the radio helped to alleviate the awkwardness of the drive. Jaeha considered asking Sakura about her day but couldn't bring himself to do so.
"Jaeha-ssi, should we not tell people at work about us?" Sakura suddenly broke the silence.
Her question made him fiddle with the steering wheel as he thought about their relationship. If they suddenly announce their marriage, it could cause problems and draw unwanted attention to them.
Jaeha sighed. "Let's keep it a secret."
He noticed Sakura's sad smile as he glanced at her. Seeing her in that state made his heart ache with guilt building up.
'I thought I can do this without love... maybe I'm wrong...'
