Angggggssssssttttttt

But like really bro um good luck getting through this

Another day, another war against Death, it seemed, the Shadow King had been growing restless, contained within his palace walls. He'd sent his two most trusted advisors out to spy on Death, but something was wrong, something was very wrong. Dusk had returned but the Shadow Wraith, Philza, as he was called, had yet to return. Phil had always been a sort of father figure to the shadow king, so when he didn't return with Dusk, the King himself went to search for his beloved advisor.

Delusion POV

It had been a less than productive day, that was for sure, and with Phil missing that just made things even more complex. I swear if Death laid one of her laced hands on him, I'd be sure to bring about her death. I couldn't lose him, not now, he was all I had left after father disappeared, and Dusk, he wasn't much help. He was just moping around acting like some sad puppy that wanted to be noticed, pathetic. I'd have to have him replaced soon, I grimaced internally glaring at him icily.

I picked up my sword and sheath, donning my light armor, "Dusk, hold the palace while I'm gone."

"Surely his majesty shouldn't be out searching for a mere Shadow Wraith, would not his time be better spent planning an attack on Death herself?" He said mockingly.

"While that is important, Dusk, I need both my advisors to plan the attack, make sure the children don't follow me."

"Of course majesty."

"That means you Dream," I said pointedly to the little shadow under the table.

"Awww come on, let me come with you.....," he drawled. For a twelve year old he was annoying, and that was saying something, but I loved him like a little brother.

I sighed glancing down, I grabbed one of my many masks. This one had a smiley face on it, "Dream, can you keep something safe for me?"

"What is it?" He said coming over, he had on a green cloak, his dirty blonde hair hidden under a hood.

"My mask, would you wear it for me? Just until I come back?"

His eyes shone and he did a little salute, "Of course, anything for you Shadow King."

"I thought I told you to call me by my name," I said laughing, ruffling his hair.

"Hey! That's not fair," he said pouting.

I chuckled, then picked up the mask, and crouched down, positioning it on his face, "Now, don't tell anyone I gave you this."

"Can I tell Sapnap and George?"

"Only if they can keep a secret," I said smiling. He ran off, supposedly to tell Sapnap and George, I sighed, knowing neither of them would tell anyone their secret. The three were close, and showing great promise, they'd be great Marauders one day. I finished putting on my armor, and set off to find my friend. I could only pray to the mists Death hadn't captured him.

I mounted my skeleton horse and rode through the portal, its deep darkness calming my anxiety and worry for Phil. I'd find him, right? Right.

I passed through the portal, and immediately felt something was wrong, this wasn't where the portal usually let out, was it? I walked forward, and immediately felt an arrow glance off my armor. I dove behind a tree, shielding myself from the direction of the arrow.

"WHO'S THERE?" I yelled around the tree.

"DELUSION?!" A familiar voice yelled.

"PHIL?!!" I said, stepping out from behind the tree cautiously. There he was, but he was different somehow...his wings, they were tangible, instead of their once misty appearance in fact he hardly looked translucent. He had been cursed long ago between death and life with the mark, and it was night, he should appear translucent, not tangible.

Then I felt it, an arrow lodged straight into my side, he was holding a bow and had a quiver full of arrows.

"Phil it's me, please don't shoot me again," I said stumbling, it would take a lot more than this to kill me but it still hurt the same. I slowly walked towards him, my steps wavering and hesitant.

"Stay where you are Shadow King," he said with acid in his voice.

"Phil-," I sputtered, walking forward, "what happened-." I was cut off by an arrow hitting my leg. "Phil, I don't want to hurt you," I continued, grimacing as I fell to my knees, blood pooling around me, "just tell me what's happening, I can help, please."

He came closer, and I could see her in his eyes, "You could lift my curse, but you didn't because you knew I would leave, didn't you?"

"Phil- I'd never, I would've lifted it if I knew how!" I sputtered, desperately wanting to see some spark of belief in his enraged eyes.

He drew his sword, and I backed away, stopping when I began coughing up blood.

"Phil-," but there was no stopping him as he advanced towards me. Hot tears filled my eyes, the only person I'd trusted, ever since my father's death was trying to kill me. He kicked me, and I rolled into a tree. I couldn't hurt him, I coughed up more blood and wiped my chin. I got up shakily, if it was a fight he wanted, then it was a fight he'd get, I wouldn't hurt him, I'd just restrain him, maybe tire him out and he'd come to his senses.

Yeah, that'd work, I drew my sword, leaning on the tree next to me, I called on my ancient powers that had been passed from ruler to ruler for generations, each power adding to the next. I felt my wounds as they healed, they stung but they wouldn't hurt for much longer. I focused in on Phil as he approached, lowering my stance, eyeing his sword as he held it aloft. Then I rushed forward, our swords clashed, shaking the very realms.

I dodged as he attacked, and he parried when I came in for a strike. Each of us knew the other's strengths and weaknesses, our fighting techniques, advantages and disadvantages. It was a sort of sick dance, our fight was, it lasted an entire day and night cycle. We were both tired, but neither of us could slip up, I was wounded, but Phil was not. I wouldn't ever let my sword hit him, but he was not as caring. There was a deep gash in my right arm, another in my left leg, while nicks littered my arms and face. I had to hold out, just until he came back to me, without Death's influence.

I misstepped and felt his sword lodge directly in my stomach, no amount of magic could heal this wound. I fell to my knees, and felt my power leave me, blood began to drip out of my mouth as I looked up at Philza.

Tears welled in my eyes, "I'm glad it was you, old friend."

He immediately crouched next to me cradling my head rocking back and forth, "no, no, no, no, anyone but you, I told her, I told her, my boy I'm so sorry. WHAT HAVE I DONE?"

I felt his tears hit my face as I was torn from my body, "Goodbye Dad, I love you." I gasped and coughed up more blood and then fell limp in his arms.

Phil POV

"STAY WITH ME DELUSION!" I cried out, it was too late though. He had fallen limp in my arms, if only Death hadn't made me cloud my judgment so with anger, I could've had him longer. I could've kept my son, my boy. I pulled in his limp body rocking back and forth, staying with him till I felt the crows begin to gather.

Then gathering my wits I laid him to rest, under the largest tree in the forest, it was a giant redwood, they represented the forever. My promise to my son.

God, that made me cry );
