The air was so cold that night. I was sitting alone on a bench near the lake in my neighborhood, drinking as much beer as I can. I slammed one of my half full can next to me on the bench, clenched my head, and screamed my head off. I was lost at that time. Can't seem to handle my break up. Not to mention it was on my birthday. I got up from the bench and started kicking all the empty cans around me.

I grabbed one of the cans and raised my hand, ready to throw it far away. But I stopped as I felt a sudden grip on my wrist and I turned around. There, standing before me, a guy with dark brown hair, about 5 inches taller than me, with eyes that says 'I'm just here because I'm bored.'

"You sure are a mess for a cute little girl." says the guy. "Am not a little girl just because I'm short." I said with a smirk. I snatched away from his grip and walk away. After 5 wobbly steps, I fell down and giggled and everything went pitch black.

I woke up the next morning with a throbbing pain in my head. I looked around the bedroom I'm in and think to myself 'where the hell am I?' Suddenly, a guy who seems familiar walked in the room and hand me a hot cocoa. "I hope you still remember me from last night," he said while grinning. A sudden panic went through my brain. I looked down and saw that I'm only wearing a large white shirt. I put down my cocoa and covered myself with a blanket.

"All I can remember is that we met at the lake. Did you changed my clothes? What did you do to me??" I asked. "Well, I can't let you sleep on my bed wearing clothes with puke all over them." He saw my troubled face and said "Just chill, I didn't see anything. I even slept on the couch outside." I let out a sigh of relief. He stared at me and asked "What happened to you anyways? Last night, you look horrible." I was quiet for some time. Then, I told him the whole story. "Wow. Your life just sucked badly," he said with no emotion at all. I stared at him with an eyebrow raised.

"Ah, I'm sorry. We've just met and I already told you things that are none of your concern. I didn't even know your name... I'm Frankie." He went quiet and stared at me. "You don't look like a Frankie to me," he said with a small laugh. "It's Franceen actually. But my friends came up with that nickname a long time ago. I got used to it. What's yours?" I asked. "Me? Oh, I don't know... there's weirdo, wacko, butthead... your pick."

I stared at him with a smirk and said "Uh, no dumbo. I asked your name. Not a list of... whatevers." I teased. "Oh, I'm sorry little missy," he said while crawling on the bed, closer and closer to me until his face was just about an inch from mine. "I'm Scott." he whispered. My cheeks flushed, and my heart was beating really fast. His hazel brown eyes stared deep into mine. I was nervous until I felt like I couldn't breathe and so I pushed away his face. "Is that really necessary?" I asked shyly. He laughed, and at that moment, I realised that I've fall for him.

Since that very day, we started to hang out together more often. In the morning, I'll be going to his apartment with two cups of hot mocha. Sometimes we went out searching for fun somewhere. And at night we went for dinner by the lake eating any fast food we decided to eat. Little by little I get to know him better. How he likes his songs to be slow. How he loves some good video games. How he take good care of his diet mre than me. And not to mention how much he don't know how to pose in a picture. And little by little I realised how very opposite both of us are.

I realised that I needed this difference. And I realised that this is exactly why I've fallen for him. The reason is he himself. I decided that I wanted to take one step forward. One night, we did the same thing again. Picnicking by the lake eating some fast food that we could think of that night. By the time I finished eating, I went quiet, arranging words on how to tell him the way I feel deep down inside.

I turned around facing him and stares. He realised that I was staring straight at him, so he said "Don't stare too long. You might burn me." I blinked and said "I don't have the power of laser eyes, Scott. There's no burning you. Besides, I don't think I can live with myself if I did burn you." He turned facing me and stared into my eyes as if he can see right through them. "Why not?" he asked. My cheeks flushed and I turned my face away not realising that he's closing in to me. I closed my eyes and let out a sigh, ready to confess my feelings.
