The scent of high school sweat wafted through the air as 20 some students piled into the classroom. Grunts echoed through the room as the boys of the class tried to shove through the door that was just too thin for two to fit through at once. Sneakers squeaked against the tan linoleum tiled floor.

The class silenced- well, the class clowns were never silenced- as the clacking of the young teacher made her way to the front of the class. Turning around, the black dress cloaked woman began to speak, "Alright class starting today we're gonna partner up for a project that will be due next Wednesday."

"OH MY GOSH,  YES!" exclaimed Jocelyn. She loved group projects. As long as it wasn't with other girls. Hanna didn't like other girls.

Oliver on the other hand, did not have the same reaction. "Oh my god, no." The boy muttered. He had moved to the school recently, so he knew just about no one. Not to mention, no one seemed to like him even at his old school.

"No, actually," Miss Baker, the teacher, began after hearing the reactions of her students. "I'm gonna be picking your partners so everyone pair up with the person sitting next to you."

"Ughh I wanted to be with Ayden, Hayden, and Jaden instead, but whatever at least you're not a girl." Jocelyn pouted to her partner. The new kid. What was his name again? Olive-Oil. That's his name. "I don't like girls they're too much drama."

"Hey! Don't worry I know you never would have picked me to be your partner because who would want to, but your makeup looks beautiful." Oliver said. He was desperate for the female's approval. Not to mention, she was pretty.

Jocelyn scoffed. "I actually don't even wear makeup because anyone who wears makeup is basic and fake, but thank you." Jocelyn tucks her hair behind her ear like Debby Ryan. "Do you play any sports?"

Oliver gasped. "No I'm way too scrawny to play, and I'm ugly. Do you think I'm ugly?" He was desperate for her to say he wasn't ugly.

Unfortunately- or maybe fortunately for Oliver- the teacher interrupted before Jocelyn could respond. "Alright class we're actually gonna do some icebreakers now, before we the project! So, tell your partner a fun fact about yourself."

Rolling her eyes, Jocelyn shifted her body towards the shy boy.

"Okay well I'm not like other girls."

"I'm not like other guys."

Oliver felt himself blush as their words overlapped.

"You are the perfect female, I mean did you just feel a spark?" He stuttered. Jocelyn's pale skin flushed red as she hurried to shake hair in front of her face.

"Ew shut up" After she was confident her blush had calmed down she once again tucked her hair behind her ear like a Walmart Debby Ryan.

Before their icebreakers could go further the teacher broke their gaze by speaking. "Now that we're comfortable with our partners, it is time to begin the project. I passed out the instructional paper while you were getting to know your partner."
