Incident On The Stairs Pt2

We arrive at the office and Ollie carries me inside. He takes me down the long corridor of exam rooms until we reach Luke's. Leila holds the door open for us and Ollie carries me inside before laying me in the chair.

Luke jokingly tuts whilst applying gloves and a mask. "What're we going to do with you, eh?"

I groan and curl up in the chair.

Ollie and Leila both grab a pair of gloves and a mask each. As Ollie applies his, he sits down on the stool and slowly lays me back. Leila quickly perks up "Uh no, let me have that stool. She's my patient so i'll be working on her."

Ollie scoffs. "You took a stumble too Lei, I saw you rubbing your eyes and holding your head. You aren't in any fit state to be in control of this."

Leila raises her eyebrows and folds her arms. "I think you're forgetting that i'm older so actually I get the final say."

Ollie chuckles. "Yeah by 3 minutes now shut up and let me take the lead."

Luke takes a seat next to me and chuckles. "You'd think they were 5. Let alone having professions in dentistry."

I jokingly roll my eyes and mumble. "Tell me about it. Try living with them."

Ollie and Leila both turn to me and say in sync. "Hey!"

Esme walks in with some equipment. "Need some extra support?" She smiles gently down at me.

I force a small smile, nod and hold my hand out to her.

Esme puts the equipment on the tray, sits on an extra stool beside me and takes my hand.

Ollie passes a cup to Luke. "Can you grab Ava some mouthwash? I want her to rinse the worst out and then i'll clean the rest."

Luke takes the cup and nods. He gets up and walks over to the counter to fill the cup with mouthwash.

Esme rubs the back of my hand with her thumb. "What are your plans for the weekend?"

I think for a second. "Urm, I think we're going to the beach?" I look at Leila for confirmation.

Leila nods. "We are indeed."

I look back at Esme. "What are your plans?"

Esme laughs a little. "Well, i'm not too sure. Luke and I haven't really discussed anything yet."

Luke hands me the cup of mouthwash and chuckles. "No we haven't."

Ollie helps me to sit up. "Rinse around for 30 seconds and then spit it into the sink."

I gently nod. "Yeah I know." I lean forward, rinse my mouth and spit it into the sink. I wipe my mouth before laying back down and resting my head against the headrest.

Leila gets up and goes over to the counter to prepare something.

Ollie turns on the overhead light and positions it to my mouth. He picks up the mirror and probe and bring them closer to my mouth. "Open for me princess."

I slowly open and wince in pain.

Ollie notices & slips his tools in. "I know I know, just relax your jaw for me."

Esme continues to rub circles with her thumb on the back of my hand.

Luke sits back down, grabs the suction and begins to suction the blood in my mouth away.

Minutes pass and Ollie has been looking around my mouth for a while. He finally turns to Leila. "Can I have the topical please?"

I notice Leila pass Ollie the topical, my heart rate speeds up and I guess Esme noticed my breathing increase because she gently rubs my shoulder. "It's just some numbing cream. Just to make your mouth feel a little better."

Ollie begins to apply the topical and then I notice Leila hand him something else. I don't think anything of it. "This is going to taste a bit funny but I promise i'll let you rinse your mouth out straight afterwards."

I nod, still keeping my mouth open. Leila takes my other hand but I don't really think anything of it.

Ollie then brings out a needle from under my head and quickly but gently starts injecting it beside my baby tooth.

I squeal and squeeze both Leila and Esme's hands.

Leila squeezes my hand back. "Deep breathes sweetheart, nice deep breathes."

I clench my eyes closed and take deep breathes.

"That's it, in through your nose and out through your nose." Esme gently says.

Ollie keeps injecting it. "Nearly done princess, you're doing so well."

A few seconds pass and Ollie finally takes the needle out of my mouth. I sigh with relief.

Luke picks up the water syringe and squirts some water into my mouth as Leila picks up the suction and suctions it away. "We'll take a few moments for that to kick in." Leila says as she puts the suction back and I shut my mouth.

After Ollie disposes of the needle he sits back down and gently strokes my cheek with his thumb. "Sorry babe but I had to do that. Luckily all you've done is knock that baby tooth of yours slightly so we might as well take it out now."

I take a deep breath and rub my jaw. "It feels weird."

Leila laughs a little. "It will for a while, however it means you won't feel anything."

Luke grabs the pliers and hands them to Ollie.

"When you're ready, open wide for me."

I open my mouth and shut my eyes.

He gently wiggles the tooth out and places it on the tray. "Aaaand we're done." He places some gauze in the gap where my tooth was. "Bite down."

I bite down on the gauze and take a few minutes to breathe before opening my eyes again.

Luke sits me up and everyone disposes of their gloves and masks.

Ollie puts my tooth in a bag and holds it out to me. "Want to keep it?" He chuckles.

I fake gag. "100% no"

"Wellll, I thought i'd ask."

Leila and Esme help me out of the chair.

Ollie kisses my head. "Come on let's get you home."

Luke begins to wipe the chair down. "You guys go, Ez and I will stay and clear up."

Leila smiles gently. "Thank you."

Ollie turns to them. "Thank you guys. I'll see you tomorrow, bright and early for another day of chaos." He chuckles before leading me out of the exam room. He kisses my head. "I'm proud of you baby."

Leila follows us out and we head home.
