Gwena's POV
Month 1
It wasn't even like I was pregnant. Well, besides the nausea. The cramping and bleeding had passed a few days after the doctor visit. I read several books and websites that said my intake of protein should be increasing. Dairy products, green vegetables, and beans are good sources of protein. Red meat, legumes, and eggs are good sources of iron, which is important for the baby's growth. I've been consuming a little bit of everything at my attempt to make sure my baby is perfectly healthy. I don't want to leave anything to chance because I wasn't giving them enough nutrients. When the fourth week arrived, my breasts began to ache and I was tired all the time.
Month 2
I stopped eating unpasteurized cheeses, milks, and juices; anything containing raw eggs; raw and/or undercooked meat and fish; and seafood high in mercury. I read that the baby is developing around this time. It's nervous system is formed and it's heart starts beating.
Soon, it was time to get an ultrasound. Maybelle and Clay came with me. Clay waited outside, while Maybelle held my hand in the room. The doctor arrived and spread a chilly goo over my stomach. She ran it gently over my stomach, searching for the baby.
"Here it is," she said. "See, this? That's your baby."
I teared up. So did Maybelle. We both were a wet mess when we met back with Clay in the waiting room. He took the pictures from me, disappointed he couldn't make out the baby. Honestly, I had a lot of trouble finding it. Luckily, Maybelle had a good eye and never grew tired of reminding me of what I was looking at.

When week eight arrived, toes and fingers were forming. My clothes have began to be tighten and I'm more exhausted. Clay signed me up for Lamaze classes. The women there are very nice and kind, especially when I told them that the baby's father wasn't around. Maybelle goes with me for most of them, but sometimes Dylan does. The first time he attended, it was awkward as hell. But now he's gotten used to what to expect.
Month 3
My baby is the size of a cherry. It's strange to think about the life growing inside of me. My first prenatal visit was during this week. The doctor asked questions about everything. From asking about past family medical issues to testing my urine. I knew it was for the baby, but it made me very tired.
During this month, the facial features of my baby formed and could be seen on an ultrasound. It was still unclear, but we could still make out it's nose and eyes. Of course, I cried. So did Clay. He hung up the pictures in the living room, showing them off to whoever visited.

I gained over fifteen pounds since the start of my pregnancy. And most of it wasn't even the baby. My doctor said it was important to gain almost thirty more pounds over the duration of my pregnancy. My breasts were larger and so was my stomach. Maybelle and Lucy took me shopping for bigger clothes. My doctor also prescribed me with vitamins to take. They were bland and overall not bad. Zinc, iron, and calcium were the main ingredients in the vitamins. These aided growth.
Month 4
My baby is the size of a nectarine. While my baby is changing, so am I. I've become scatterbrained, clumsy, and forgetful. And my mood swings are awful. I'm grateful Clay, Dylan, Lucy, and Maybelle put up with my crazy emotions.
