This is it. My first day of college. Its scary but exciting at the same time. My mom fixed the collar of my jacket and rested her hands on my shoulders.

"Are you ready for your first day of college?" She said uneasily.

I nodded and gave her a smile. "As ready as I'll ever be."

"Where did the time go? You've grown up so fast." She looked as if she was about to cry. My mind flashed back to my childhood. I'm really gonna miss being with my parents all the time but I can't stay with them forever.

"I'll be fine, Kendal is here with me. She's practically like my sister. I'm sure she won't let anything bad happen to me." I said. My mom nodded and pulled me into a hug. I wrapped my arms around her and closed my eyes. When I opened them again I saw my dad staring at me adoringly. He pulled my suitcase out of the trunk and sat it on the concrete. I pulled back from the hug and walked over to them.

"Don't let anyone here intimidate you. Be the strong girl I know you are. And remember, no alcohol. Alcohol clouds the mind and-"

"Dulls the reflexes. I know." I finished the sentence for him. He smiled at me.

"That's my girl." He held his arms out and I gave him a big hug. He pulled back and kissed my forehead. My mom handed me my textbooks and then stood close to my dad.

I grabbed the handle of my suitcase and took a deep breath.

"I'll see you at Thanksgiving. I love you both."

"We love you more." My mom said.

I smiled and turned around, pulling my suitcase behind me. The closer I got to the door the more nervous I became. I looked around, examining the area. It looks exactly like it did on the brochure. I reached out and graves the handle on the door. I turned around and gave my parents a small wave before disappearing into the school.

My eyes scanned the entire room. It was huge and a lot more nicer than I expected. I'm guessing it'll be a lot like high school. Except more advanced and the people are more mature, I hope. The hallways were a lot wider than ones at my high school. The people looked so much bigger and older than me. I feel a little bit out of place. I clutch my books closer to my chest and began to walk down the hallway.

"Boo!" someone said from behind me. I jumped and nearly dropped my books. I recognized the laugh and smiled to myself.

"Kendal you scared the crap out of me!" I said, turning around.

"Sorry I couldn't resist. But guess what! I just got us invited to a college party! Isn't that cool?" she said, I could see the excitement in her eyes. She is such a party girl. Me? Not so much. I actually try to avoid parties.

"A party? It's the first day! How did you even get invited?" I asked.

"People like freshmen I guess." she said with a shrug.

"I think I'll pass. This party sounds like it's gonna be a disaster for me anyway." I've seen stuff like this in movies. The girl goes to party and wakes up in a bed with a guy she doesn't even know. That's not gonna happen to me.

"You don't know that. Come on you didn't do anything fun in high school. Do you really think college is only about studying?"

"Uh...yeah?"

She blinked. "Well yeah it is but it's also about having fun. And this party is supposed to be fun. You need to go. Please!" she begged.

I huffed. "Alright fine. But I'm not talking to anybody. Because talking leads to a conversation and then the conversation leads to drinking and then drinking leads to-"
