Unable to Stay, Unwilling to Leave

You look at the crystal in your hand, it shimmering Blue with a dark purple middle. All of a sudden it felt like all the weight of the world was on your shoulders. "I can't do this, I'm not the one for this." You get a strong feeling wash over you, frustrated you grip the crystal tight and you raise your hand up and about throw it over the dock, but you stop suddenly when you hear the door to the dock start to open up. "<Name>?" The Advisors voice whispers over to you. "It's quite late, is your leg keeping you up?" He shuts the door softly then walks over to you, noticing your hand in a fist. You then speak softly. "Yeah, hard to find a position to sleep." You turn away from him as you speak, hiding the crystal in your hand. He frowns and looks at you worriedly like. "Maybe another potion would help?"

This moment felt so dang awkward to you, you couldn't find the words to say or anything. It was a long moment before you got the courage to speak the words you wanted to. "Iggy-- "His gaze fixed upon you. "Gentiana showed up in front of me and healed my leg." His face switched from normal to slight confusion. "Gen-- Messenger from the gods?" You nod. "Yeah, but she said it was only once." You turn around to Ignis on the leg you were injured on. "See?" A small smile peaked on your face. "All better." You balance on that leg for a moment before hopping back to standing on two feet. He was slightly stunned but just went with it, but that little gesture of yours made him softly chuckle.

"Was that the only reason? She usually shows up to deliver important messages." He leans his arms on the railing, looking at you. "Funny how she knew who you were and was willing to heal you. "You let out a soft uncomfortable giggle. "Yeah, who knows." He softly sighs and gently puts a hand on your shoulder, which sent another jolt through your body. Your face turning red once again. "I would love to chat all night but I think we should get some rest; the boats await us in the morning." You nod in agreement with that, knowing what was going on. Your hand still in a fist, you start to walk back. Ignis notices and debates whether to question it or let it be. "<Name>?" You slightly turn around to look at him.
'
"Hm?" "If there's anything I need to know, you can tell me—I know we just met, but knowing the situation could do all of us better. "You slightly frown and shake your head. "There's nothing, it's fine. "He honestly didn't believe that one. "I see, maybe we both shall just head to bed. We can talk more when we get on the boats." He knows your hiding something but he doesn't want to pressure you into anything if you don't want to share. It's not like you don't trust Ignis or anything, all of this is just overwhelming, its best just to keep quiet as of now. The night passes over and morning comes, your pass out on the bed before you hear the others start to wake and stir in the room. Honestly, you didn't want to get up and sleep extra till it was time to get moving. But then the thought of what happened in the Citadel crossed your mind and you open your eyes, your head still on the pillow with brows furrowed. 'This is just too much' you thought to yourself.

The day hasn't even fully started yet and you already know it's just going to end badly. You slowly push yourself up to a sitting position on the bed and look around, the sun beaming through the windows even this early in the morning. "Good morning <Name>," Prompto said in a soft voice, not wanting to wake the prince. You nod and speak back at the same level. "Morning." Gladio then spoke. "Iggy just went out for something; he will be back soon." Your eyes wince at the thought of that, Gladio and Prompto noticing the change of look on your face. "Is something the matter?" Gladio questions you. You shake your head. "No, it's... it's fine." Prompto then speaks up. "So, what Iggy said true?" Your eyes look at the blonde. "Huh?" "Gentiana healed your leg" you pause for a moment before speaking "Oh... yeah." 'He didn't have to tell them right away...'

Not long after you awake the prince wakes up and yawns, your stomach getting tied in knots, you almost feeling kind of sick and your hand gripping your arm tightly. "Where're specs?" Noctis asks the blonde and his guard. "Should be back any minute now," Galdio answered him. Ignis then enters the room with a disturbed look on his face, his eyes in a fixed gaze. "What's that look for?" You tighten the grip on your arm and the bedsheets, closing your eyes to what was unfolding, your thoughts going off the wall. 'What's going to happen honestly? Why am I even here, why do I have a so-called calling? I don't want it, I don't want it, I don't want it!!!' Just as your head was filled with your screams for help the advisor's voice cuts through your thoughts.

"<Name>!" You blink your eyes and look up at him. "Hu-huh?" seeming you spaced out the entire ordeal about what just happened. "We need to get going." You nod your head and get off the bed. "Wait," Gladio speaks. "Why don't you stay here, it will be too dangerous for you. Will be back." You stare at Gladio for a moment, about to agree when Prompto speaks up. "She'll come with us; it might not be safe for her here. With a war going on now, who knows who will be next." Ignis then gently grabs your wrist and drags you along. "We have no time for this kind of squabbling. Just stay close alright?" You nod your head and follow along with the rest back to the car. Slight Panic starts to settle in as Ignis drives back to the city, not knowing his way will be blocked. Your thoughts were too scrambled in your head to focus on anything, it's like everything happened so fast the next thing you know Prompto shouts. "Look out ahead!" Ignis then slams on the brakes. "Damn, they got the way blocked."

Ignis sees another side road and heads down it till he can't anymore and parks. The four start to get out of the car, rain coming down as well. You make your way out of the car, knowing you have no way of defending yourself. The prince speaks to you. "It wouldn't be wise for you to go, or would it be wise for you to stay in the car." You glance at him. Gladio sighs a little. "Just stay close to us, either way, isn't good. But if you're with us we can keep an eye on you better." You nod and you follow the boys closely. Ignis speaks "Listen, there will be soldiers coming out of the woodwork, try your best to shield yourself and get behind any objects you can to stay clear of their fire, got it?" You nod your head, anxiety shooting through your entire body.

The first round of soldiers appears and spot you and the boys immediately and start to shoot. The bullets start to shower the air. You should have found a hiding spot right away but your head wasn't clear enough to think on its own for your safety. Prompto sees your struggling and gets by your side and puts his arm around yours and pulls you to the nearest pillar. "Wha!" He pulls out his gun and shoots one of them in the head, he then looks at you "Don't move, ill shield you, okay?" Fear was in your eyes but you trusted the blonde. After a couple of minutes, the fight was over... or so you guys thought. "Let's go!" Noctis shouts and all of you follow suit. You try your best to keep close to them as they run through to the next area but you were slightly behind them, not knowing that one MT was left standing.

The MT fixed its gun on you, and as it did Ignis sensed something was off and he turned his head, his eyes wide as he sees the MT pull the trigger with the gun fixed on you. "<NAME >" You heard the gun go off behind you, fear overwhelmed your body, and the next thing you knew a crystal-like shield covered you and the surrounding area as you shouted. "SHIT!" You hit the ground not noticing it at first as you hope the bullet missed you. The boys stand in awe as they see the shield surrounding your body. "What the hell— something is up with this girl." Gladio comments. Prompto snaps out of his confusion and pulls out his gun and starts shooting at the MT. "Never mind that we need to get rid of this dude!" Noctis agrees with the blonde and warp strikes the Emeny, killing it instantly. You are still full of fear and shaken up that the shield around you is still up. Ignis calls out to you. "<Name> It's alright, it's over now. <Name>" With that, you lift your head slowly and notice the shield around you.

"What the... how." Then it hit you 'the crystal...' The shield starts to fade away, all of them looking at you with confusion. "I got questions," Gladio says to you. "Who are you?" You shrink in a bit of fear at his question. "I-I... I" He growls slightly "I want an answer-" Noctis puts his hand out Infront of Gladio. "We can worry about her later, right now we got other matters to deal with." Ignis walks up to you and reaches a handout. "One thing at a time, alright?" You nod slightly and take his hand; he helps you to your feet. Summoning that shield took a little out of you and you walk slowly with Ignis to the field opening. Prompto had the Radio going on his phone, informing them that the King, Noctis, and Luna were dead. That which upset Noctis and he angrily gripped his hand, you watching the sadness unfold in front of you. Just then as you hear the roar of the dreadnoughts above you Noct's phone starts to go off and he answers it.

"Hello, Core? What the hell's going on??!" You stand there, eyes fixed on the city in the distance as smoke fills the air. "Makes sense, what about any of this makes sense?!!" Your eyes shift to the side, a pang of slight guilt feeling your stomach. Only because you knew of the situation and didn't tell anyone about it. "Sacred Oracle?" Noctis says and your ears prick up to that and the rest. Noctis then looks at you. "We have a girl with us, we just met her yesterday. Don't know if she fits the bill." You take a small step back and slightly shake your head. "Alright, we'll bring her." He then hangs up the phone as his gaze fixed upon you and you feel like running away and taking off, remembering what Gentina told you. Ignis then speaks. "Gentiana gave you a message <Name>, she doesn't just show up for any reason." You then take a few more steps back, not liking where this is going. Noctis then looked puzzled after Iggy mentioned that. "Huh? Yesterday she visited you?" Prompto nodded. "Yeah, specs told Gladio and I. Guess we forgot to fill ya in."

It felt like you were about to be sick again, Ignis noticed it right away and figured interrogating you could wait till they get you to Core. "Noct, where did Core say we should go?" Noctis looks over to his advisor. "Hammerhead first." They got the message across to change the subject and start their way back to the car, but you stayed put not wanting to move. Shaken by all the events, you just didn't know what was going to happen. Ignis stops and turns back to look at you. "<Name> are you coming?" You just stand in fear, shaking lightly. The others stop and glance back as Ignis makes his way back to you. "Come now <Name>, we need to get going. Everything's going to be okay." He puts a hand on your shoulder, with that your slightly jump and snap out of it. Your eyes trailed up to look at him.

"You know, if we knew what was going on with you, we could help you figure out how to be less scared." He pauses only for a moment. "You will have to tell us sooner or later <Name>." You close your eyes and tell yourself. 'Be brave, just be brave enough to tell them.' You take a big breath in then out and then take the crystal out of your pocket but that's how far you got before you shoved it back. "I'm sorry, I'm trying to be brave enough." He sighs and gently pushes on your back to get to you start walking. "Let's head back to the car, it's alright dear." You couldn't look at the others as you walked back to the car, frustrated with yourself.

You and the rest make your way back to Hammerhead. When you arrive, you stay in the car as the others go to visit Cid in the garage. Once they got back it was time to head to the tomb to meet up with Core, the very thing you were dreading. All of you make your way in the tomb, you coming in last and standing at the back. "So can you tell us why I'm here?" Noct asks Core. Core starts to explain to Noctis his calling and duty as King. You were gently rubbing your arm, waiting for what came for you, after Core was done with his lecture about Noctis fate. You wince as Noctis speaks. "Why didn't he tell me that?!" Hearing all this in person seemed a lot worse than just watching it through a screen, the emotion felt more real and it hurt the heart even more.

Core then looks to you. "And you, what's your name?" Your head lifts to meet his gaze. "<Name>... Its <Name>" He studies you for a moment. "You must be the one Lady Luna called upon." With that, you tense up and tighten the grip on your arm. "How do you know that." You say back to him. Core then comes up walking towards you. "I got my know-how's." Ignis then speaks. "Lady Gentina came to visit her last night. I didn't witness it, but <Name> told me first hand." Your eyes gaze over to Ignis for a moment then look away. Ignis then speaks again. "It's time we know the truth < Name>, you can't just keep it hidden from us." You shake your head. Core then speaks. "Don't make this harder than it should be, just tell us everything she told you last night."

You took a long moment to speak but when you did the wrong thing came out. "I can't do this!!" You raise your voice a little bit. "I can't do this calling you want me to do!" You then take out the crystal and show them you do indeed have it. "Here, take it. Find another person to do your bidding. I can't go through with it." Core just stares you down. "So, it is true." He completely ignores your cries of not wanting to be a part of the calling. "Did you hear me?! I don't want to be your sacred Oracle. I am not willing to die for anything!!" He doesn't lose eye content with you. "Who says you're going to die? And you can't back out of it." You grit your teeth in frustration. "I know how this world works! This isn't fair to me!" Gladio then speaks. "Okay, you need to calm down." You shake your head. "Calm down? I just got separated from my family, my world. Then got dragged here out of my own free will, and now I'm being told that I got to do this calling thing?!" You pause only for a moment before anyone else could say anything. "Don't tell me to calm down, I'm still hoping this is a damn dream!!"

Tears collect in your eyes, frustration building more and more. "Why me... why me out of everyone." The tears start to roll down your cheeks. Core then cuts in. "Because you were chosen carefully by Eos. I am sure Gentina told you that already. Also, because you know of our Past Present, and Future, correct?" Just then you freeze, all eyes on you. Noctis then speaks. "You- You know of our past?" "I-I..." You couldn't take it anymore and you run out of the tomb, everything was just too overwhelming for you at this moment. Core was about to go after you but Ignis starts to head after you quickly. "It would be wiser if I went after her." It doesn't take long for the advisor to catch up with you. "<Name> slow down, it's alright." He reaches out and grabs your forearm "We can talk about this, there is no need for a big scene." Your footsteps slow to a stop and you stand in the grassy area looking away from him. "There you go, now take a deep breath in and out." He says in a soft voice. You do as he says, feeling the tears run down your cheeks. "I'm scared okay, I'm really scared."

Ignis looks at you with worried eyes. "Alright, you do have the right to be scared. I would be frightened as well. This place is new to you after all, but your kind of in Noct's situation if you think about it." You slowly turn to look at the advisor, eyes gleaming with tears. "Now it's not just that, what Core said was true. I know of the past present and future of Eos. I don't want any of you to hate me because I didn't tell you anything of what was going on." You close your eyes, starting to cry a little bit. Ignis walks up to you and brings you into a soft embrace, your head resting on his chest. "No one's going to hate you dear, no one." He brings his hand to rest on your back. "Iggy..." You softly cry out. 'I love you you thought in your mind, taken over by the comfort he is giving you at this moment. A few moments later Gladio walks up. "Okay love birds, break it up. " He teases as he walks up to the two of you. With that comment you blush and slightly pull away from Ignis, wiping your eyes. Ignis not fazed by the comment and keeps a hand gently on your back.

Your eyes shift over to Gladio then you notice Noctis walking up behind him. Noctis then speaks. "Just tell us everything okay? What's your world like, your hobbies... Uhm... stuff like that." He rubs his hand behind his neck, showing he's a little timid. You speak softly. "What my world is like?... well... it's kind of like this one, but there is no magic like this place." You pause for a moment. "But honestly, earth-- that's what my world is called is just like Eos. So not much different." Prompto chimes in. "Does your world have Gods?" You take a long moment to answer the question, it was hard to explain that one. "Yes, in a way, but no physical gods? It's hard to explain." Noctis nods. "I see." There was another long pause before Noctis spoke again. "Are you... ahh... how do I put this."

You look at Noctis, tears creeping into your eyes again. "There are things I know, a lot of things I know." Noct fixes his gaze upon you and waits for you to continue. "But if we change something, something else might go wrong. I'd hate to be the person to mess everything up for everyone." Noctis slowly walks up to you and puts a hand on your shoulder. "I won't pressure you to tell us anything alright?" Core then speaks up. "But her calling, she knows of the future so maybe if she tells us-" Noctis speaks up. "It's fine Core, now is not the time to pressure her into anything. Don't want to scare her off again." 'It's not like she could bring my father back now.' "What's done is done." You look at Noctis in the eyes, feeling a sense of care from him. "<Name> we won't let anything bad happen to you, you can trust us."

Gladio then speaks up. "It is scary, but you won't be alone in this. We have your back." Prompto nods "Yeah, all of us." Ignis then speaks. "We will help you through your calling, whatever it takes to make sure you feel safe." You look at all of them, they supported you so much. You nod in agreement with them. "Alright." You speak softly. "Alright, I still don't like it but I'll try." Noctis gently pats your shoulder and smiles a little. "Let's get going to the base, we got some places to burn. "That brought a little smile up your face but then you thought for a sec. "Wait." All of them look at you as you take out the crystal "I have a feeling this is what helped me summon that shield back there. I wasn't exactly given much info on this crystal."

Core then speaks. "That crystal looks like it's part of the one that gives the Glaves magic. Try seeing if you can summon any weapon. Since you're an Oracle and all I do believe you were given one." You look at the older man. "How do I even do such a thing? Just think it or???" He sighs and holds his hand out. "I guess you could say that don't think too much and it will appear in your hand. "Just then Core's long blade appears in his hands. "Now you try." You nod and hold out your hand. "Umm... okay." 'Come forth!' you think in your head. But nothing. "Hmm." You stretch out your hand again. 'I summon thee!!' and nothing again. "Well for heck's sake, why isn't it working?" Ignis speaks. "Why don't you say something out loud, maybe that will help." 'Moon Prism Power!! Like that would work.' You joke to yourself before trying again. You put your hand in front of you. "Come For-" A bright sparkling light appears in front of you and in a flash a trident appears in your hand. It wasn't the same as Luna's.

"Whoa. Is this..." The Trident was about as long as Luna's but the top of it was crescent moon-shaped with a bladed tip on the top of the moon. The color of the staff was midnight black while the Crescent Moon was silver with hence of crystal in the inner part of it. "This is mine?" You couldn't help but smile a little bit, such a cool weapon you were holding in your hands. "But, how do I use it?" Core sighs and starts to walk. "We got another tomb to find, so you can practice as we head there. It's not too far." You walk with the five of them, heading towards your next unknown but known venture. "I'll try my best!"
