Demon Chase
~~~
Bryony felt something hot and sticky under her finger tips. Her eyelids flew open and she looked up at the familiar crack on her bedroom ceiling. She put her hand to her head and felt herself burning up but also smeared the mysterious liquid onto her head. She looked down at her hand and saw startling red blood covering it; however, she suppressed a scream and looked over herself. She seemed fine but there was blood covering the bed sheets but she seemed unhurt. But the sight is enough to scare her and think a million questions at once.
There’s the sound of the front door shutting meaning someone was in her apartment. She runs to the window to see who could have left. She waits a few minutes but there’s no-one leaving the building – so that means someone came into her apartment?
Bryony crept over to her door and slowly turned the silver door handle. She peeked out and stepped out onto the narrow hallway leading to the living room. The wooden floor felt cold beneath her bare feet but she held in her breath and grabbed an umbrella from near the coat rack.
She felt ridiculous but she had to protect herself. She went into the living room and found it empty and nothing had been touched. Then she went over to the kitchen and no-one was there. She decided to check the bathroom in case but it was clear.
“What the-“ Bryony blew away the hair from her face and wandered back to her window. So no-one was in her apartment now, meaning they left. But when she waited five-ten minutes for the person to leave the building, no-one was there.
Realisation hit her hard and she grabbed her head, dropping the umbrella to the floor. Walking, barking, Ethan, Hellhounds, and then passing out. It was all too much for Bryony but she remembered. What had happened? And why was Ethan there with a halo.
Her head flew to the clock and it read12 o’clock. Oh crap, late for school. She ran to the bathroom and had a quick shower, then sprinted to her room to change and then left the building.
It takes Bryony 10 minutes to run to school. She quickly explains to the lady in the office why she was late but she’d made up a quick lie. Then the sight of Cassie walking to Trig relaxes her.
“Where the hell were you? Why are you so late?” She asks and Bryony has barely enough time to catch her breath.
“Cassie-“ Bryony didn’t know whether it was good to tell her or her friend would assume she’s insane but she had to tell someone. “It’s been crazy Cassie. I mean, everything that’s been happening. But you wouldn’t believe me for a second.”
“Well be quick, I have Trig,” Cassie complains. She rolls her eyes and sighs. She hates Trigonometry.
