Between Light and Dark

Chapter 03.1

Every time, I closed my eyes. Each time that passes through the hour, the pain is increasing that I couldn't hold them back. Sometimes, I wish I were a human. I wished that I could be one of those mortals. However, it's too impossible for someone like me to be human.

I wanted to be loved; I want to know how to laugh a real laugh. I just wanted to see how the human's life could be that bad. If it is, then I would gladly live in suffer, than to live like a creature with nowhere to belong.

The moonlight is so beautiful, and the warm wind that swings Azure's mind. She sits on the chair at the balcony of her house, while admiring the whole sky. A few minutes of staring at the moon, she heard footsteps getting closer to her direction.

"What do you want?" she said

"I'm just visiting my little Azure" she stood up and faced the man as she recognized the voice, which it belongs to.

"Alestair? I-I mean sir. W-what-" he never gave the girl a chance to spoke up as he pulled her into a warm embrace.

"You stubborn kid, you made me worried a lot." He said, while observing Azure's next move. He wonders if Azure would hug him back.

"Ace told you?" she asked

"Even if he won't tell me, I can still know about it." He said pulling off the hug. He stood in front of her with the expression he placed on his face.

They both stared into each other's eyes. They talked about something that made Azure think, think and think. She didn't even know what to say in return, she can't believe what have she done.

"Argh~" her chest tightened, and her head hurts like it was hit by a hard thing. She groaned in pain and slowly fell into the floor.

"Are you alright? What's the matter Azure?" Alestair bent down and hold both of her shoulder; he leaned closer and makes Azure's head rested on his chest.

Azure then started to listen to the gentleman's heartbeat, she closed her eyes. Still; she hissed in pain and trying to calm herself down. She does random deep breaths and her as she lost on the beat... some things crossed her mind.

It was blurry to see, too gray, too dark. There was a man, holding a child, a baby. He's protecting the kid, even he got wounds and blood kept on dripping off. The scene just evaporates and there was another one. A woman, she's lying on the floor already lifeless. Then footsteps are being tip topping on the floor, a hand appeared caressing the woman's chick. Just then, she blinked and looked at the child's direction.

She stood up while, the wounds and cuts especially the whole on her chest healed. There's a white thing that breaks out on her back, those are wings. Another scene appeared after a few seconds. Azure saw a kid beside her, she's looking deeply into her eyes. This time, the scene is better. She could see the kid's figure however, she can't recognize the face.

Someone pass through her body, so she stepped away. There was a man who kneeled down and holds the kid's arms. He spoke.

"You are an angel."

"... a fallen angel."

She closed her eyes and blinked to make her sight clear. She saw the same kid, but not on the same place. It's dark everywhere, the kid's on the same posture. But the man isn't, so she thinks it's a different person. She walked near the kid, and shocked to see who's in front of the child. She froze, as she felt like everything is moving. Her heart won't beat as normal; as she wanted it to be.

"Azure! Hey Azure!" She gasped and looks deeply into Alestair's eyes. She saw something familiar. Her tears went falling and didn't know what to do.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

"Can you stay?" Azure asked that, out of nowhere, just to know she's back.

"I can't." the man replied and Azure got shocked as the man replied.

"Did I just say something right now?" she said.

"Uh- you asked me if I could stay."

"Stop reading my mind." She tried to get up

"I didn't read your mind; you said it loud and clear Azure."

As she's in the middle of moving her foot, she stopped and faced the guy. His wings appeared, and a mist covered him. He never even let Azure talk. 'Does he know about the things I saw?' she thought to herself.
