The bullet pierces his skull as an explosion of scarlet cascades from the back of his head. Fragments of mind shattering like the veil of truth not moments before. His body seems to hit the floor almost in slow motion, a dull thud resounding around the four uniform walls from his body colliding with the cold concrete. Red drains and pools from the body, staining the pristine grey of the concrete flooring. The sound of the heels of the general's boots echoes racing to the fallen body, his frantic cries tearing at the walls as he sinks into the bath of red at his knees. This was never supposed to happen. But then again, what part of this was?
