Father's Day

Author's note - I really wanted to get this story out for Father's Day but I had two weeks of important exams and a bunch of other school related things so I never had the time. Well now it's the holiday's I can finally get this story out.There are no ships in this story. Also the cadets are younger in this story and I didn't make their ages represent their height because that's not very realistic. My friend is younger than me but taller so... yeah.

10:30 at Top Wing HQ
Speedy walked into the control room after checking in on the cadets.
"Hey Speedy. Are the cadets ok?"asked Bea as she was checking something on the holographic table.
"Yeah their all asleep" answered Speedy looking at his tablet and then at the big screen.
"I'm going to go down to the garage and have a look at the Splash Wing"says Bea turning of the holographic table.
"Ok, just make sure you don't fall asleep down there" chuckles Speedy.
"I won't" says Bea rolling her eyes.
Bea goes down to the garage and hears a strange noise. Was it someone crying or something else Bea wasn't sure. It can't be one of the cadets...can it she wondered. She switched on the lights. There was no one there but the noise also stopped.
"Who's there. Come out please" says Bea in a gentle voice not wanting to scare whoever was there.
A figure walked out of the shadows and into the light...
"Swift!?" Bea exclaimed, "what are you doing here? Are you ok?"she asked as she noticed his tear stained face.
Swift had his wings in his pockets and was looking at his feet, "I...I was..." he trailed off.
Bea walked up to him and put a wing around his shoulders and slowly lowered him down onto the floor and sat beside him.
"Tomorrow's Father's Day...and...I just" Swift trailed off again not sure how to explain further. Bea immediately understand what the situation was and just hugged him thinking off a way on how to make Swift feel better for tomorrow.
"Bea..."
"Yes Swift" answers Bea looking at him with a look of sadness and hope.
" can you give me training tomorrow while the cadets are with...you know their f...father's?" asks Swift not looking at Bea.
"Is there a particular reason?" questions Bea knowing that the cadets loved their days off.
"It's just a way to get my mind of what day it is and the others won't be able to question that I'm not doing anything..." Swift explained before getting cut of by Bea.
"It's ok. I'll talk to Seedy about it" reassures Bea, " now why don't you go get some rest."
"Ok, thanks Bea" answers Swift getting up with a small smile on his face.
"Oh and Swift" calls Bea stopping Swift who was at the door.
"Yeah"
"Don't forget if you need anyone to talk to for any reason both me and Speedy are here."
"Ok" calls Swift as he flys up the stairs and into the bedroom.
——— With Bea ———
Bea goes to the control room where Speedy was still working on something.
"Oh hi Bea" says Speedy putting down his tablet and turning to face her.
"Hi Speedy. I need to talk to you about Swift."
Speedy's eyes widened as he thought about what the problem could be, " W...what's w...wrong?" stutters Speedy. The only thing that could make Speedy stutter was the thought of one of the cadets feeling hurt/injured.
"Don't worry he's fine. It's just about tomorrow" reassures Bea.
"Oh...tomorrow's Father's Day. How is he handling it?" Says Speedy understanding the situation.
"Not so well, I found him crying in the garage. By the sounds of it he had been at it for a while" says Bea with a sad look on her face.
Speedy had a surprised look on his face, " But he was in bed when I checked."
"You probably faked a body, you know with clothes and stuff" answers Bea.
"I guess. So what did you want to talk about?" questions Speedy.
"Swift wanted training for tomorrow so he won't have to answer the cadets questions about why he isn't doing anything special" answers Bea.
"Ok I understand. I'll find a badge he can earn" says Speedy picking up his tablet to look through the badges.
" wait I've got an idea" says Bea as Speedy looks up, " Why don't you try to find a badge that you can do together."
"That's a good idea...I think I have the perfect badge we can do" says Speedy.
"What badge?" questions Bea.
"The mentor VS cadet badge. It's the one where there is a series of challenges that the mentor and cadet/cadets compete against each other" explains Speedy.
Authors note - I made that badge up to fit the story.
"That's perfect!"exclaimed Bea, " what kind of challenges are you thinking of ?"
"I was think of a jet race around the island, a treasure hunt and an activity of his choice" murmured Speedy.
"That's good" exclaimed Bea. "Well we had better get to bed. It's getting late" yawns Bea.
"I agree" says Speedy turning of the screen with a yawn.
"I'll set up a treasure hunt with two maps for you while I'm on my morning run" says Bea as they made their way to their rooms.
"Thanks Bea. Goodnight" calls Speedy as we walks into his room.
"Night" replies Bea before closing her door as well.
——The Next Morning (The Cadets room)——
"MORNING TEAM!!!" yells Rod jumping out of bed.
"Ugh it's too early Rod" groans Swift rolling onto his other side.
"Yeah some of us do like sleep" groans Penny.
"IT'S FATHER'S DAY!!!COME ON!!" Shouts Rod.
"Oh yeah! Let's go!!" Shrieks Brody jumping out of bed.
Swift groaned to himself as he listened to his teammates getting ready and talking excitedly about their plans for the day. He hoped they wouldn't notice that he was still in bed and not giving any input into the conversation but he had no such luck...
"Swift?" asked Penny noticing that one of her friends wasn't moving from his position in his bed.
"I'm fine...just looking for something" Swift answers pretending to look for something in his drawers, you guys go on before me."
"Ok see you later!" Rod, Brody and Penny call before running out of the room.
Rod, Brody and Penny ran into the control room and shouted their goodbyes to Speedy and Bea before going into their colour elevator and zooming out in their vehicles to their families.
Speedy and Bea looked at each other for a minute.
"Everything is set so you can earn the badge with Swift. I'll be around the Island to help a few islanders with fixing things. If you need anything just call" says Bea gathering her stuff and leaving HQ.
Speedy watched Bea leave for a minute beige making his way to the cadets bedroom. He knocked on the door and opened it when he heard a come in.
"Hey Swift" he called as he walked in.
"So what badge am I going to earn?" questioned Swift.
"The mentor VS cadet challenge badge" answered Speedy.
"Cool what's it about?"
"So basically there are going to be 3 challenges. Two which I've picked and one which you are going to pick. Then whoever does the best during each challenge will win that round and whoever wins the most rounds wins the badge" informed Speedy.
"Cool sounds like fun. I bet I'm going to win that badge" teased Swift.
"Oh really" joked Speedy.
———Outside HQ———
"So what's the first challenge?" asked Swift.
"It's similar to the co-pilot badge. There are a series of checkpoints around the Island and we're going to race in our planes" explained Speedy.
"Sure sounds easy enough" grinned Swift.
3...2...1...GO!!!
———After the race———
Authors note: I wasn't sure how to write the race so I skipped it.
"That was a good race...shame you lost" laughed Swift.
"Hey that was definitely cheating" retorted Speedy pretending to be anger but secretly glad that Swift was having a good time.
"How?" questioned Swift still giggling at Speedy's angered expression.
"My plane doesn't have turbo" pouted Speedy with his arms crossed across his chest in hopes to make Swift laugh.
Swift burst out into a fit of uncontrollable laughter. " y...*giggle* you loo *giggle* look like a *giggle* 2 year old!" Swift struggled to say a full sentence without laughing. Speedy couldn't help but smile.
"A 2 year old! Come back here" Speedy exclaimed as he grabbed Swift around his waist and started tickling him.
"S...stop...p...please" begged Swift in between his laughter. Speedy took pity on him and stopped.
"So are you ready for the next challenge?" questioned Speedy.
"Yeah!" exclaimed Swift.
"I can't hear you" taunted Speedy jokingly.
"YEAH!!!" yelled Swift.
"Ok , Ok that was a little bit too loud" winced Speedy, " The next challenge is a treasure hunt. So here's your map." said Speedy handing Swift one of the two maps.
"We'll have to find it on foot. No using your Flash Wing. Ok. Understand " nagged Speedy with fake anger.
"Crystal clear" answered Swift saluting.
Ok.
3...2...1...GO!!!
Swift set of flying high above the treetops while Speedy shook his head watching him. "I guess I never told him he couldn't fly with his wings." Speedy then looked at his map and started walking into the trees.
———15 minutes later———
"...right according to the map the treasure should be inside this cave" murmured Swift to himself as he stood in front of a cave. As he flew in he saw a chest and made his way towards it when an idea popped into his head. Instead of going towards it the young cadet made his way to a big rock and hid behind it.
———5 minutes later———
Speedy walked in, " hmm looks like I won this challenge" he cheers as he walks towards the chest.
"BOO!!!" yells Swift jumping out from behind the rock.
"Swift!" exclaimed Speedy putting a wing to his chest, "You scared me"
"Looks like you did t win this challenge after all" smirks Swift with a glint in his eyes.
"Oh well at least you'll get the badge" says Speedy smiling at Swift who begins cheering.
"well what do you want the next challenge to be? It's your choice" inquires Speedy.
"Umm...I'm not sure yet. How about we get some lunch fist all that winning has made me hungry" boasted Swift jokingly.
"you're never going to let me forget about this are you?" groaned Speedy.
"Nope" says Swift popping the P.
"We'll let's get some lunch while you think about the next challenge" says Speedy lifting the chest, "You can open it later in private. It's a little something from Bea and I."
"You let me win" inquiries Swift following Speedy outside.
"No! Of course I didn't let you win. I had faith in you yes" says Speedy, "We had better hide it in HQ before someone takes it."
———At the Lemon Shack———
"So what do you want the last activity to be?" asked Speedy drinking his lemon coconut water.
" We can have a video game challenge" says Swift excitedly, " We could use the big screen."
"What game are we going to do?" questions Speedy with a raised eyebrow knowing exactly what game Swift was thinking about as all the cadets loved and were very good at one particular game.
"Minecraft!! Of course" confirmed Swift, "We each have one hour to build a house in creative and then the others can vote when they get back."
"Sounds like a plan" agrees Speedy, "but one thing. What are you going to tell the cadets when they ask about what you did today and why you played Minecraft?" questioned Speedy as they made their way back to HQ.
"Umm...I'll probably just tell them what I did today with you but with m...my d...dad. If it's ok with you?" explained Swift finding his shoes very interesting all of a sudden.
"Of course it's ok. Whatever makes you feel comfortable" reassured Speedy putting a wing around Swift's shoulders.
———At HQ———
"So do we do the inside to or just the outside?" asked Speedy setting up the game.
"We'll just do a kitchen, bathroom, a bedroom and a garden but since we have time so we'll extend the time to 1h 30 mins"explained Swift setting up two controllers.
