"Wow, you must be bored." Lily exclaimed, coming with two cups of tea.

"Huh? What give it away?" Christian replied.

"Well, you would have to be very lucky to find the kitchen in 439 Cambridge Court organized."

"Oh, about that, I AM bored, and suspicious." Christian replied. "It's been 5 days since I saw Hannah. I wonder where she disappeared off to."

"Oh, maybe she's with William Golding. They haven't gone anywhere since they were married. Even Hannah gets bored, you know?"

'Yeah, but she would usually give us a heads up before she would go anywhere.' Christian thought. "Anyways, what brings you here?"

"Oh" Lily said, "Well, I thought, that you would be lonely because,  Hannah isn't here. Although, I've been coming here for the past 4 days. Haven't you noticed?".

Christian didn't reply.

Lily gave him a small smile, which Christian didn't notice. Rather, he was deeply going through the newspaper, looking for any trace of crime, unrest, whatever he could get his hands on.

Lily sat herself in a chair behind Christian. She casually peeped over his shoulder to catch up on the news. There wasn't much talk.

Lily looked around and noticed a yellow smiley face on the wall. It had bullet holes all over the surface. Below it on the floor, there were bullet casings scattered around on the floor. There was also a pile of books which looked old.

Lily decided not to ask.

"Had breakfast?"

"Um, no" Lily replied, taken by surprise.

"Me neither. Check if there's anything to eat".

Lily pursed her lips and looked down for a little bit, then kept her tea cup on the ground.
When she got up, she straightened her skirt and proceeded to the fridge. She opened the door only to be greeted by a hand almost falling on her.

"Argh!" Lily screamed.

"What happened?" Christian asked. He tilted slightly towards Lily, but still didn't look up.

"I- the hand! It scared me!"

"You work in a morgue. You see tens of hundreds of dead and decomposed bodies."

"I didn't need you to remind me." She replied, "It's just, I didn't expect to find body parts in your fridge. And as for food, there's nothing. Everything has rotted." Lily concluded.

Apart from the rustling of the paper, it was quiet.

Then Christian offered, "How about we go out? The café around the corner is open now."

Lily thought for a moment. She looked at the clock. She had to be at St. Bartholomew's hospital in another hour, but she had time for breakfast.

She hesitated for a bit, and said, "Yes, I would like to go."

(At a police station)

Leon Johnson walked into the station, greeted everyone, and went to his small office.

It had been a week or so since he did some legwork. Apart from some petty thievery, there weren't any cases to deal with.

The week had been slow for everyone. Especially for Dan Evans and Randal Anderson. They used to be out in the field almost everyday, accompanying Leon and Christian on another case, though they never did any real work when Christian was there.

Now they just wandered around, chatting with each other, chatting with other colleagues, going out every hour or so.

Leon wondered whether he should just give the day off for everyone. Looking through the window, he didn't see a single soul, other than the dead leaves that passed there and then.
