Hunt for the Dark Stone

Chapter 1

It was a calm morning in Ninjago, most people would say it was too calm for Ninjago since so many people had tried to take it over. What made it calm was that it was a Saturday & the Ninja had convinced their sensei to let them have the day off, sure it cost extra training the next day but the ninja wanted to spend the day at the beach.
One by one the ninja made their way to the living room with their beach bags slung over their shoulders & swim suits already on so they wouldn't have to change once they got there.
"Alright,before we go does everyone have everything? We're not turning around if someone forgets something," their leader in green shorts said to his team.
"I have the sunblock, beach ball, & the volleyball with me,along with my beach towel" Nya said as she dropped the sunblock into her bag.
"I have the snacks, cooler with drinks & the umbrella" Zane said as he was checking the cooler to make sure it was cold enough.
"Alright,is anyone bringing money for Ice cream?" Lloyd asked as he stuffed his towel in his bag.
"I am, along with a radio to listen to music " Cole replied & double checked his bag.
"Great! Jay,Kai what do you 2 have in your bags?" Lloyd asked.
"A comic book & my beach towel" Kai replied trying to make it obvious he didn't want to swim, he didn't fully trust the ocean.
"I have stuff to make sandcastles," Jay chirped as he held onto a plastic shovel. The others looked at him confused as to why thats all the lightning master had. "I like building sandcastles ok" he muttered.
"Alright,well I'm sure we have everything so lets go!" Lloyd cheered as they headed out, though they didn't make it far before Jay's electric chicken stopped them.(Yes I made it his pet & I dont remember if it had an official name or not)
"Now what?" Cole pouted wanting to go to the beach already.
"Ninja,please make sure you're paying attention in case you need to help someone in danger, it is the beach after all," their sensei said.
"Yeah you never know when a shark attack will happen" Kai said, thats the reason he didn't really trust the ocean,he'd rather got to a lake or river.
"We promise master Wu,we'll pay attention" the team said before they were able to run off towards the beach. Once they got there, Zane set up the umbrella for them.
"Alright, sunblock on or you cant go in the water" the ice master said as he laid out his towel & set the cooler in the shade.
"Jokes on you,I don't want to go in the water," Kai said as he laid on his towel & put on his sunglasses.
"Better put sunscreen on Kai, you know what'll happen if you get sunburned" Nya said as he brother shuddered & grabbed the sunblock.
"I rather not have cold showers" he grimaced as he put the sunblock on. Nya laughed as she took the bottle from her brother & sat on her towel to put it on.
"N-need some help Nya?"Jay asked as he sat on his towel next to her. Nya giggled & passed him the bottle.
"Sure, can you put some on my back for me?" she hummed as she focused on putting the sunblock on her arms. Jay eagerly began to spread the sunscreen on her back before he began putting some on his face.
"You look like a lifeguard from beach movies" Cole laughed seeing as Jay had started by putting some on his nose.
"If you drown I'm not coming to save you" Jay joked before he rubbed the rest of the sunscreen in.  Cole chuckled & did an exaggerated gasp.
"& here I thought you were my best friend" Cole joked before Jay tossed him the sunblock.
"I am you best friend,I just can't drag you out of the water," Jay pointed out before emptying his bag of all the buckets & shovels he had.
"That's a lot," Lloyd said as he looked at all the various sized buckets & shovels.
"Hey,when it comes to building a sandcastle I get serious" the master of lightning said before he & Cole ran off to make a sandcastle. Lloyd chuckled & took the sunscreen from the bag Cole had accidentally dropped it in.
"Too bad Minty dislikes the beach" Lloyd sighed as he put the sunscreen on.
"She's busy, remember?" Zane said as he sat down in the shade.
"I know" Lloyd pouted before he got up.
"Just enjoy the beach,"Kai said with a chuckle. Lloyd rolled his eyes before dragging Kai.
"Fine,I will enjoy the beach" the boy in green said, making the fire master worry. He tossed his comic to Zane & tried to figure out what Lloyd was doing.
"Let me go," Kai said, panicked, which only made Lloyd laugh as he went over to Jay & Cole.
"Man, you worry too much. I'm not cruel" Lloyd said as he helped Jay & Cole with the sandcastle. Kai sighed in relief before Jay threw a bucket at him.
"Hey!" Kai shouted which made Cole laugh.
"You go get the water" he & Jay said as they packed 2 buckets full of sand. Kai gulped & looked at the ocean before looking back at his teammates.
"Why can't Nya just sit over here & make you guys water?" Kai said as he tried to get out of having to go into the water.
"Because we have the day off" Nya shouted before picking up her brother & running towards the water.
"NYA PUT ME DOWN" Kai screamed as the others laughed & watched.
"If that's what you want" laughed the water master before she dropped her brother into the water.
"Please tell me someone's recording," Jay laughed.
"I am,"Zane said as he walked over to the others. They all laughed as the master of fire ran around chasing his sister as she laughed & ran back to them.
"Lighten up a little Kai" Cole chuckled as they flipped the buckets over.
"No," Kai said as he tackled his sister. Nya laughed & pushed him off.
"How about we settle this with a game of volleyball?" she said as she got up.
"Fine," Kai said before getting up.
"Perfect! Me,Jay & Cole vs you,Zane & Lloyd" Nya said before getting the volleyball.
"You're on!" Kai shouted before Cole made a few flat rocks form along the sandals to make a small volleyball court for them. Zane strung 2 of their towels up as the net between the umbrella & a pole of thick ice.
"There, this should do," Zane said as they got ready. After about 5 rounds of playing, Nya,Jay & Cole ended up winning by 1.
"Alright alright you win sis" Kai said crossing his arms. Nya was about to say something before they heard screaming.
"Great,just as I was hoping we'd go today without having to deal with something bad," Cole said with a pout.
"Maybe it's just a shark or someone overreacting to something?" Jay said, sounding hopeful till they heard the roar of a dragon.
"Definitely not a shark attack" Kai shouted before Zane threw their gis at them.
"It's a good thing I packed these," the ice master said before they did spinjitzu to change & rushed towards where the roar came from.
"This was supposed to be a relaxing beach day, why can't we catch a break?" Cole said as they ran.
"Tell me about it" Jay groaned before they stopped dead in their tracks.
"I haven't seen a dragon like that before," Kai said as they watched a dragon chasing people around as if it were looking for something.
"We got to get the people out of here!" Lloyd shouted before the team split up & began taking turns distracting the dragon to get people away from it.
"What is this thing made of!?!?!" Jay shouted as his lightning did nothing to the dragon. He yelped as he jumped over its tail.
"It looks like dark matter,but how"Zane asked, confused as he tried to freeze it but it did little to the dragon as it easily broke the ice.
"How do we stop it then!" Kai yelled before the dragon slashed at him. He barely dodged in time as he crashed into a trash can. He groaned as he got up & held his arm that had gotten scratched.
"I'll lead it away,get Kai out of here!" Zane shouted before shooting ice to get the dragon's attention. The others ran to Kai & pulled him somewhere safe as Zane kept running till he could get away & rejoin them.
"Careful" Kai yelped as his sister was trying to wrap up his arm.
"I'm sorry" she said before finishing.
"So now what?" Jay said as he spied on the dragon.
"I don't know" Lloyd said with a sigh as Zane began taking pictures of the dragon.
"Maybe sensei will know,let's go" he said before running off to grab their stuff. One by one the others followed, leaving the green ninja alone as he stared at the dragon. Just before he left, he saw someone walk up to the dragon petting it before they got on & the dragon flew off. He was shocked before running to join his team as they all rushed to the monastery.
15 minutes later they had arrived & were trying to explain what had happened to sensei Wu.
"Before we left I saw a girl walk up to the dragon,I think she's the reason it was attacking because she hopped on it & the dragon flew off" Lloyd said as Wu examined the pictures Zane had taken.
"I have not seen a dragon like this before" he had said before looking at Lloyd. "What did the girl look like?" he asked.
"I couldn't tell. She had on a mask & I didn't get a really good look at her." Lloyd said with a frown.
"All we know is the dragon attacked & it looked like it was searching for something, so either it found what it was looking for or had the wrong area" Cole said as the others glanced at him.
"Whatever the case,we have to be ready for the next time it attacks, no more days off till it's stopped." Wu said before taking one last glance at the pictures of the dragon.
