Trust is like paper.
Once it's crumpled it can never be perfect again.
There's no possible way.
There are some days when you wake up and you know something bad will happen, but yet the sun is bright, the grass is green, and the birds are singing. Everything seems perfect. Nothing will go wrong.
Yet when I opened that door, my mouth in a high grin and my happiness above the roof, all it took was two seconds for it to come crashing right back down, destroying everything else around it.
It didn't feel right ignoring Dante. But it only proves what he'd do if we were in a serious relationship. And it'd probably be even worse than kissing the therapist.
"He's stupid," Carla suddenly said aloud, dragging my attention away from the window. I looked at her as she drove on the highway, sparing a glance at me and then back on the road. "For whatever he's done. He's so fucking stupid."
I smiled, nodding. "He kissed the therapist."
Carla gasped but then scoffed, shaking her head. "Zara right?"
I nodded, feeling tears at the brink of my eyes. I was not about to allow my make-up to be ruined because I was crying over a guy. But Dante isn't just any guy. He's something special, someone, who has a secure place in my heart.
"I always thought she was a good person," Carla mumbled and I nodded, resting my head on my palm.
"That makes the two of us."
I felt Carla's gaze shift to mine and then shook her head, gently nudging me on my arm. "It doesn't mean that you can't enjoy your birthday today, Khristina."
I sighed, nodding my head and brought my posture back up. I only celebrate my birthday once a year and I am not going to wait a whole other year while I walk around with my head bowed in sadness.
I felt a small smile creep on my face as I felt the car pull to a stop. "Where are we going first?"
Carla's face broke out in a big grin and reached into the cup holder beside her, revealing a pink eye cover and pushed it in my hand.
"Surprise!"
I furrowed my brows, raising the eye cover in the air. "This is my surprise?"
Carla shook her head, taking the eye cover out of my hands and then put it over my eyes so that all I saw was darkness.
"Nope, this is your surprise to take you to your surprise."
And before I could even say anything I heard Carla's door slam and then mine was opened, the warm, spring breeze hitting my skin.

I felt my body hit something - for what seemed like the thousandth time ever - tingles of pain rupturing throughout my whole body.
