Walking through the barely lit town, fog in every direction blocking one's vision from seeing too far. A girl wanders aimlessly without a thought, not even worried about the drunken men looking for a good night or possible serial killers that may be out and about. Her only train of thought was how could this have possibly happened

Her light blue dress stained at the ends due to walking through puddles of water later that evening. Her long dark brown hair partially in a braid cascading down her back, she lacked self care, not a single care about her appearance.

She was sent out of town due to being accused of witchcraft, headed to the edge of the forest she stopped to look as far in as she could. Taking in a breath she walked the threshold and into the woods. She walked for what seemed like a few minutes, but turned out to be longer than she thought.

These woods were said to be cursed, she never believed those rumors. Probably due to a hunter making up stories, she continued without fear of what to come, though as she pondered about what could possibly be wandering the forest.

Looking around, every sound and movement made her jump, for the first time she was worried something bad might happen. Grabbing her skirt, she picks up speed and continues forward. It seemed that the faster she went the louder noises got, making her heart go even faster, at this point she was running.

Without stopping she didn't realize the upcoming ditch, busy looking behind her seeing and a silhouette, wait a sec-

Tripping over an uncovered branch she falls, releasing a small yelp. making contact with the ground.

Eyes fluttering open, it was morning. Slowly sitting up she took in her surroundings; a burnt out fire pit, a poorly made tent and a rack made of sticks, holding strips of meat .....

'Who brought me here....' was her only question

Glancing to the other side, she came face to face with..... Something

She let out an ear piercing scream, without processing what was inches from her face. Jumping backwards, she saw him.

A male Drow, skin as black as charcoal, hair white as freshly fallen snow pulled back in a long braid, with the ends a grey fading to black, his eyes though...

His eyes were a yellow that faded to white, she could get lost in those eyes forever.

His face though was a scowl all the while you inspected his face, his eyebrows arched permanently, his nose snarled.

She opens her mouth to say something but was quickly cut off by the mysterious man;

"You're kinda dumb y'know..."

"Um ...what?" what the hell did this guy just say??

"I said you're dumb, why would someone walk into these woods, especially at night?" he emphasized the word 'especially'

"I was banned from town-" "Why?"

"I WAS ACCUSED OF BEING A WITCH OK!" she shouted at him, which didn't phase him.

Before her very eyes, he vanished, he was there crouching in front of her then it was a blur. Looking around quickly she found him behind her, at the pieces of meat, scarfing down a few pieces. 'How did he do that?' she thought.

"Soo... uh thanks for getting me out of that hole..." his only response was a shrug of his shoulders, not even sparing at glance at her. Too busy picking at the dry meat.

Getting on one foot, she attempted to stand only to feel nauseous,

"You have a concussion." he stated in a matter of fact tone, she gave a small wince and sat back down, stretching her legs in front of her only to discover her dress was completely torn 'great' she thought.

She looked back at him, he was crouching down and she couldn't really tell what he was doing.

"What's your name?" she hoped to get his attention. She watched his ears perk up, he turned quickly and squinted his eyes.

Turning back around he huffed, "Xie."

She tilted her head and was actually surprised he bothered to answer. "xie ... as in shy"

His ears went downward, "no......what's yours?" he asked, still not looking back. The Girl gave her name, and awaited his reaction

He abruptly stood and then it happened again, he vanished

It's been almost three hours since he disappeared, you pondered on leaving but were surrounded by forest and didn't feel like getting lost. So you decided to sit next to the tent, not wanting to go inside and him getting mad if he were to return. As if on cue, you could hear steps and glanced up to see him, dragging a deer carcass behind him.

"Where the hell did you go?" you questioned him.

He let out a groan of annoyance, 'what is that supposed to mean?' you screamed in your head

"I brought more food, now shut up." he mumbled the last part.

Hours passed and it was now sunset, the two were sitting in silence watching the dancing flames in the fire pit, he was watching her, with very sharp eyes, unbeknownst to the girl.

"What did you actually do that got you kicked out?" he piped up.

She thought about telling him or not, letting out a breath, she spoke up "I was into astrology, so I wanted to learn everything. For months I was reading and learning so many things..... But the librarian suspected something, and started spreading the word that I was practicing black magic and trying to take over the town," her dark brown orbs looked up into his gorgeous yellow ones, through the flames.

"Thank god my stepfather was the town mayor, or else I would've been arrested or...executed." she trailed off thinking of the townspeople who looked at her in disgust.

"Wow... what a bunch of sensitive people." he stood up, kicked dirt into the pit, walked over to the dumbfounded girl and dragged her into the tent. Before she could protest, she was thrown onto something really soft.

She could hear clothes bustling, she could barely make out his form, but in his perspective he can see her expression clear as day. Crawling over he laid down, back facing the girl.

Without another word, he drifted to sleep.

The woman sat in silence, hours had passed, and she had not gotten a wink of sleep, she was too worried about the snoring man that was only inches from her own face. His arms curled around her shoulders in a tight grip.

She only awaited the morning.
