Together we walked up the path, my face turned towards the wind, my arms limp at my sides. I willed myself not to complain, but evidently my talent lay elsewhere. At last I gave in.
"How much longer is this going to take us? I'm exhausted, and I never asked to walk for a week!" I was exaggerating, I realized, but somehow I felt the need to make this cat-girl feel bad. She was lofty and quite rude, though extremely kind to me at times. I too realized that I wasn't the kindest, but, of course, as a human, I was unable to see my flaws.
It seemed like she was trying to annoy me, as she began to skip from rock to rock, jeering, "It's not much farther! Stand on a rock and look up! Can't you see it?" I glared bak at her, too weary to take another step. My eyes flashed dangerously, and, as always, I seemed to be on the brink of losing my temper. I was known for it too, a quick, hot temper. Suddenly the cat-girl reached for my hand. I was feeling spiteful, so I looked annoyed, I supposed. Rather roughly, she pulled my up.
"See? Look, it's my home!" She said. Perhaps she was trying to decieve me, but her smile seemed sincere. She titled my head up and my eyes danced as I smiled at the entrancing view of the palace.
"Oh. It's quite beautiful," I said, laughing. I felt better than I had a few seconds ago. Everything, the view, the cool breeze rushing up to pound in my ears, was beautiful.
"Isn't it? Now, I guess it's time for us to get going. We don't want to be late!" The cat-girl smirked. Her middle and pointer fingers pointed at the rock and quickly, swept across the surface. A cerulean vortex bloomed in front of us, and a red door swung open.
"Come, Alice," the cat-girl said. Grabbing my wrist, she pulled me into the portal.
I'd never teleported before, but, honestly, what could you expect? I was a country girl at heart, one who'd grown up among the woods and branches and you couldn't have expected much more from me. As I fell through the vortex my eyes settled on the many doors scattered throughout the chambers. My eyes widened and, subliminaly, I made my way towards the largest door. I was scared, frightened even. I couldn't wrap my head around the idea that I wasn't able to control myself. I'd always been a practical girl, with perfect self control, and the mere thought that I wasn't able to move any longer, hurt. The cat-girl clucked her tounge, and pulling me back bagan to run. The ornate door at the end of the tunnel glistened in the shafts of light. She pulled my towards it.
"And that, my friend is how I could've taken you to the Palace without you killing yourself!" She grinned. On the contrary, I wasn't smiling.
"You knew about this! And you...you didn't tell me!" I sputtered, angry. The cat-girl, terrible thing that it was just smirked. I twisted around and kicked her, hard. I'd always been one for kicking, so of course, she let out a yowl of pain before glaring at me.
"You idiot! What the he*l was that for?" I asked.
"Oh, nothing," I said cooly. "Just the fact that you've killed my body, hurt my feelings, and brought me here when all I wanted was an adventure!"
"Well, too bad! This is part of the 'adventure,' This is what you wanted isn't it?" She sounded mocking as she jeered at my outburst. Somehow, it made me angrier.
"You foul, evil, loathsome little cockroach!" Spitefully, I screamed at her, my face reddening. For a second she couldn't respond. I expected her to fire back at me, but instead she grinnned.
"So... you want to be left alone right? You don't wish to be in my company anymore?"
"That's right!" I started, but then, I reconsidered. She had helped me, and of course, she wasn't all bad, nobody was. "I mean, I didn't really mean what I -- No! I want your company!" I spat out, trying to look angry at her. She didn't answer. "Hello?" But she was gone.
