As always, Levi was in a bad mood. His petite body parading about the cramped room, making Eren nervous. Despite his unease, he stayed silent- he'd learned over these past few weeks how bad making that mistake could be for him. For a few more moments, he simply sat there on his bed observing that man. That fine man, despite his stature, and his... unconventional tastes.
"Heichou... when are you going to let me free?" Eren finally asked, the chains on his hand clanking as he raised it in the air.
"Let you free?" Levi stopped pacing, turning to face Eren. "I never said I would do that."
Eren blushed furiously, remembering what had happened last time he was in this situation. "Heichou... I just...-!" His sentence cut off as Levi rushed toward him with such force... and met his lips fiercely. Eren gasped as Heichou's heat invaded his mouth, his tongue sickeningly sweet from all the candy he'd been eating earlier. It danced around, stealing his breath.
"Have you forgotten?" Levi spoke uncharacteristically gently, looking straight into Eren's eyes.
"Forgotten...what?" Eren panted, still delirious from the captain's kiss. Did he have chores he was supposed to do today? Was there something else he'd forgotten?
"Your trial... is tomorrow. A trial to decide the fate of the last titan."
Eren's heart instantly sank. He'd been having so much...fun that he'd forgotten about it. After they'd succeeded in wiping out the rest of the titans, there was almost no chance they would let him live. His hands began to shake violently, and he had to stop himself from chewing his fingers; if he ended up changing now, then he would be killed for sure.
"I don't want to die." Eren's voice was firm and yet somehow childish. Of course he didn't. He had so many things that he loved, so many things that he wasn't finished with yet.
Levi's muscular arms wrapped around Eren, pulling him close- his heartbeat resounded in Eren's ears. "And I don't want you to leave me. Not yet."
The smallest of smiles appeared on Eren's face, but quickly vanished. His throat began to tighten, with that warm choking sensation that you feel before you cry.
"What can I do, Levi?" He buried his face in Levi's shirt, embarrassed by the tears which now ran down his face. The older man ruffled Eren's hair and leaned back, placing his hands on his cheeks and forcing him to look at him.
"Leave it to me. I won't let them hurt you."
