Hey I'm a first time writer and the first few chapters are a bit rough but please it gets better trust me

Cora's Pov:

"Get up, your going to be late" Carly yelled at me from our kitchen. Carly and I shared a small apartment in New York City. She was getting ready to go to work at a small café, five minutes from our place. I on the other hand had to be ready in 20 minutes to meet Louis to join him on tour with his band.

Carly is 19 years old, same age as me. She didn't want to go to college knowing that she only wanted to have her own coffee shop. I say its to feed her addiction but while living with her I seemed to have picked up a few of her habits, that being one of them. I went to college for 8 months. Worst 8 months of my life. I never wanted to go I just went to please my parents. I went for business seeing that as a safe option. I started College in November and then dropped out in June, a few weeks ago. When my mom found out I got a phone call from her. All I heard was screaming before I hung up and turned my phone off for the day. Since then I haven't returned any of her 16 missed calls, only sent a message saying I was fine living with Carly so she didn't worry. I'm an adult now, she needs to understand that.

I get she's going to worry and everything being my mom but she gets out of hand sometimes. I had explained I didn't want to go to college before I enrolled and she guilt tripped me. I never had a career in mind and quite frankly she did not care one bit. When something doesn't go her way she gets very nasty with her words. Louis knew that, he grew up a few houses away so we hung out almost everyday. Louis can be shy around new people but once you get to know him he's the most caring and sweetest guy you'll meet. My mom yelled at me when I was younger, It didn't get bad until I was around 14. She started calling me things like a whore, slut, and my person favorite was when she would start saying how my father would be disappointed and ashamed. He died when I was very young, only being around 3. Louis was always there for me though. I often thought maybe I would disappoint my father.

Carly pulled me out of my thoughts as I heard her speak "Cora get ready you have 15 minutes." I rushed out of bed brushed my teeth, combed my hair and threw on my favorite baggy jeans and a white cropped t shirt. I went out of the bathroom to find Carly made Waffles for breakfast. We quickly ate so I could say my goodbyes. Carly and I have been friends since kindergarten and saw each other all the time, now I'd be leaving for 4 months until August when I was coming back for her Birthday.

"I'm going to miss you so much, text me everyday" Carly told me as she squeezed me tight. I agreed while I went into my room to grab something for her. A going away present. When I came back she looked confused.

"What is that?" she asked.

"Open it and find out."

As she opened it she began to tear up.

"Long distance touch bracelets" she said very shakenly as she was crying.

"Yes, you can tap the screen and it will vibrate to the other bracelet no matter how far away we are" I explained to her.

As we were both crying I realized the time. 7:58, not even 8 in the morning and were both crying. That's always a great start to the day.

"I have to go" I whisper to her just loud enough for her to hear, my voice very shaky. "I'll call you as much as I can" I added on trying to make the situation better.

She lets go of me, and I walk towards the door and grab my suitcase and bag. I say one last goodbye as I shut the door behind me. As I walk down the street to the Diner Louis told me to meet him at all I can think about it is how nervous I am to meet his friends. Louis and I have been friends for forever. Since I was born. Louis is two years older than me, making him 21. Although we grew up together I've never met these guys in his band. He told me their names but that's about all I heard about them. While my thoughts consumed me I arrived at the diner. I walked in searching for Louis. He waved me over.

"Hey" I said as I sat down.

"Hi" he spoke to me. "I ordered us coffee already it should be out here soon"

I thanked him. He knew my coffee order considering we got it almost every day after school at this cute little coffee shop all of high school. When the lady came over with our coffees she set them down giving Louis a smirk. She looked no older than 20, making her the perfect age for him.

I smiled at Louis. He knew exactly why, and then laughed at me as he said no.

"Why not" I exclaimed. "She's pretty hot" I'm straight but I can appreciate hot women when I see them. Which definitely helped our friendship as we grew up and Louis needed a wingman, being so shy.

"She isn't my type" he explained.

"So a 5'3 hot blonde isn't your type" I restated.

"Nope, I'm more into a 5'7 brunette" he stated. We playfully flirted with each other often both knowing were joking. We have a good friendship that neither of us would want to ruin. We've never done anything with each other and as of right now I'd like to keep it that way.

"Aww, you don't like having to bend down to kiss them" I teased knowing he's only an inch taller than me.

"Fuck off" he said to me.

The lady came back over, looking as if she could get sick any moment.

"Hey Sarah are you okay?" I said looking at her name tag. She completely ignored me.

"Uh Hi" she stuttered out looking straight at Louis. "I um was wondering if you were busy at 5 when I get off my shift, maybe go downtown to that movie place with me" she said starring at Louis deathly afraid of his answer.

"I'm sorry I can't I'm leaving for a few months at noon" he explained sincerely feeling bad considering her state. "But maybe I could text you" he added on.

"Sure" she said. They exchanged numbers and we finished our coffees. As I went to pay for my coffee Louis tried to pay for me. He does this every time we go out.

"No" I say to him. "Let me pay for our coffees you do this every time" I stated him knowing its very much true.

"Fine, but only this once" he said. We walked out of the diner and as I started walking I realized I had no idea where we were going, but when I asked he just said to meet the guys with no explanation.

"I thought we didn't have to go until noon" remembering what he told the girl at the diner.

"We don't but they asked if I wanted to go walk around New York City, they haven't been here long" he explained.

"Oh okay" I said most definitely not sounding sure of myself. I'm very nervous to meet them. I want to get along with them to help Louis benefit of not having to worry. As we continue to walk Louis carries one of my bags for me as I carry the other lighter one. I look up to Louis who is looking right in front of him. Three guys in almost all black. Their backs were facing us but I knew from Louis expression that was them. We walk up to them and Louis puts my stuff down causing them to turn around.
