The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.
- Nelson Mandela
Wylie had been beaten and battered by them. He knew that if he wanted to survive he would need to stop the Elders. The Elders had his life thread and he could feel them dangling it over the void. There was only one way to stop this. He had to do it.
As Wylie got up and walked over to the ruins of what used to be the Great Hall, he broke. After so many years of fighting The Elders, he gave in. They had tortured him and his family and he knew that they could end his life any moment. They had all the power. Wylie was nothing.
As Wylie filled up his water bottle with the only freshwater he could find, he thought of the situation he was really in. Wylie had just been transported to an island to work for the Elders and they had beaten him up till he couldn't even walk. Every time he tried to move around the island, he would fall down and get mud all over his body. He was tired of being controlled by the tyrants who wouldn't stop hurting him.
Wylie was almost done moving the logs to the North Side of the island. This place was very dangerous as almost everyone had been manipulated by The Elders. The Elders capture one family member from each family and throw them into the prison cell. The Elders threatened the North Side to obey them or their family members in prison would die. The Elders ordered the citizens to not make friends with everyone or be even slightly pleasant to anyone they knew. The Elders were tyrants that could only be stopped by The Resistance.
The Resistance was a group of people whose family members were never captured. They cared about no one and their only goal was to defeat The Elders. They had been trying to take down The Elders for 20 years and were losing hope. The group of The Resistance was growing smaller in size because of the people who would be captured or killed. The Resistance had a powerful leader whose name was Mez. He and few other people in the world had the power and skill to defeat The Elders singlehandedly. But he had just been almost drowned when The Elders had taken him in and held him in a water cage for over 17 hours. But one thing they didn't know was that he had the ability to go in a coma for a long period of time and not have to use any part of his body to survive. That's what he did for 16 hours. For the last hour, he just held his breath. "It was one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life." described Mez. The Resistance had a chance, but it was definitely a small one.
