Colin
Being gay has its perks. I mean, besides the fact the the straight jerky homophobes hate your guts, and bully you constantly, but annoying jocks don't bully you as much anymore. Perhaps it's because they're afraid of getting the 'disease'. Being gay is not a disease, it's not a choice, and it's not 'unholy' or whatnot. Me, being the gay - atheist couldn't care less about what other people think, but at times I think about my impact on this small town in Oregon.

Opening your eyes in the morning is difficult work - for me. I'm the definition of a hibernating bear in the morning. I. Don't. Like. Waking. Up. Much less going to school. When I wake up, I'm usually on my back. Staring up at my ceiling I see the light blue paint, slightly peeling away at the corners of the wall. My skylight showstopper darkened sky, with a few gray clouds. Ugh, another grey boring day in the life of Colin. I I roll over to my side. I see prince, my family's sheep dog, staring up at me for the floor, as soon as he see's me he perks his head up and grins- in a dog way. He licks my face, and I role to my other side. Groaning at the sooner on my cheek. The window is open. I must have left it that way before I went to bed.
I sit up. Rub my eyes, and then immediately lay back down. To much effort if you know what I mean.
"Colin, come on it's time to get up"
*groan
"Colin come on"
*groan
"Don't make me get a bucket of water!"
I shoot up quickly pull my pants on, scramble around for a shirt, tear my drawers off for socks, find a sweater, and rush as fast as I can down the stairs, just in time to see my mom filling a pail of water from the sink. "oh come on" she sighs, looking at me " I really wanted to use this" "oh well, try again tommarow." I saracasticly remark. She dumps the water and opens the fridge. " I went shopping last night, got some orange juice, extra pulp just like you like it" "Bean won't like that" I say. My sister's name is Jean, but when I was young I used to tease her that her name sounded like bean. We grew up with calling each other names, and I always had he last laugh. Bean has short dyed-black hair. Usually wearing cat eyes, she dresses in miniskirts and crop tops. Mom calls her out on her outfits, saying she looks like a whore. Out of love of course. "Well, Bean isn't down here is she. Speaking of Bean, I woke her up half an hour ago, where the hell is she. My mom turns to walk up the stairs. She's a slightly plump woman. Her short greying hair reminds me of a seagull's feathers. She has round nose, and big arms, always waiting to rap you in a big bear hug when you need it most. She's a widow. My father died when I was ten because of cancer. We lived in Nebraska, but my mom needed to get away, so we wound up in Oregon.
"Bean get butt down stairs, the bus is almost here"I hear a honk from outside, and find that is here "it's here" I say. And I grab my backpack and run out the door "love you mom bye" I yell. I jump on the bus, avoiding the annoyed looks of the driver, and hop into the seat In the back. Bean causally walks out of our door, a piece of toast in her mouth, pulling a sweat shirt over her head. Mom hands her her backpack, and she climbs on the bus. " sorry Arty, I was just changing" she explains to our bus driver, who rolls his eyes and closes the door. She sits down in the seat opposite mine, and whips out her phone. Munching on her toast she flips through pictures on Facebook, ignoring my eyes staring on her.
"Hey beannnnnn" I whine, trying to annoy her. "Shut up Col" she responds not even bothering to look up.

We arrive at school just as the morning bell rings. Great, no time to do homework. I quickly rush to my first class which happens to be anatomy. I quickly grab my seat towards the center of the class, and look out the window at the greenhouse. It's filled with all different plants, and from where I'm standing it looks like a jungle. " good morning class" our teacher Mr. Pine shouts over the noisy class, and with that class has started.
As usually, my best friend Alice strides in late, not having a care in the world. "Late again Ms. Redmond." "Sorry sir" Alice Expains, "I missed my bus, and my dad had to drive me in" "I've heard better excuses from you Alice, are you giving up" Pine jokes "of course not sir, I'm just so tired, I didn't get a wink of sleep last night" Alice slides in next to me and whispers in my ear I got plenty of sleep, I just needed to finish the lab questions in the hall I snort, causing people to look our way. Alice has dirty-blonde hair that falls just past her shoulders. The tips of it were dyed red, but now we all faded to a slight pink. She has deep hazel eyes and freckles that litter her face. I actually enjoy anatomy. For me it's neat dissecting things here and doing labs there. For Alice however it's pure hell.
As soon as class is dismissed Alice bolts out the door. She said she had to use the restroom, but she's probably just finishing her English homework. I myself, have a free period.
I wander down the halls to the library, where I spend most of my day outside of classes. As usual he desk in the far back is unoccupied, and I slug my bow down upon it. I sit in the chair, check Facebook, and then plug earbuds in my ears. It's time for my session with Young The Giant. A couple of minutes shoot bye, and then I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn around to see Jack Pine. Nephew of the anatomy teacher, soccer star at school, and total jock. He motions to my earbuds, and I pull them out " yeah I was wondering if I could use that desk, being that your not using it" " oh yeah sorry" I say, grabbing my things and shoving em in my backpack " no worries, I just need to study, happen to know of an chemistry tutor?" He says, not once taking his eyes off me " what, you being a nephew of the science teacher needs help?" I smirk, " yeah well let's just say I have been a bit preoccupied" "I'll help you with anatomy" I say standing up for the chair " what, you? A sophomore?" " hey I aced chem. last year at my old school, I could definitely help you out" " alright" he laughs " cool, are you free tommarow, same time?" " yeah, I'll see you then" I say, walking away "bye" he says, turning around to face my back strolling to the desk at the end of the hall - wait, why didn't he go there?
