Alexandre from Harmas was one of the chosen ones, only, at this moment, he didn't know so. He was writing down the story they used to say to children so his little sister could read it before sleep, his pen brushed against the rag leaving a trace that he knew would make his sister laugh, so he smiled, he tried to change the norms he knew, to make an equal world, or a peaceful one...
As he wrote the last word of the story, he noticed that the sun has risen already, he took a deep breath and blew the candle next to him. He got up of his chair carefully so he wouldn't wake anyone, looked at his mirror, as he ran his golden brush through his brown hair, he hid his face with his hand when he was blinded by the sun rays passing through his window. This handsome man, walked to the corner of his cozy, heartwarming, small room. It had big windows on the left with black detailed designs that gave upon tall dark trees, its floor was made out of wood nad there sits a desk besides the windows and a closet next to the mirror. the door was on the right and had the same color as the floor, and there was a black wall in the front behind the big warm bed. everytime he walked into his room, he saw that, as if for the first time.
He grabbed his sword staring at his ligh blue eyes in the reflection, almond beautiful blue eyes, bluer than the skys, brighter than diamonds, he didn't even blink a second, he just looked, an absent-minded careless look, he raised his thick eyebrows when he heard someone knocking at his door, "yes?" he said with his deep voice, "The king wants to see you Alexander" said a Gard at the palace that he recognized to be Liam, "tell him I'll get ready and join him, thank you Liam". He heard him get downstairs, changed and a minute later, while he fixed the collar of his shirt, his tall muscular figure appeared in the mirror, and his pink lips drew a smile, he took his sword and rushed downstairs.
- You asked for me father?
- Yes indeed I did. I need you to go to the new land, you're one of the chosen ones you need to go before dawn. Take your sword and your armor, some clothes and that's it.
He stood there with no reaction, he didn't really care that he was pushed to go to a land he didn't know, he could handle being away for a while, he did think of his little sister though, but he knew he'd come back a few weeks later. So he just agreed with his father.
- Thank you Alexander.
He turned around when he heard the door open, a thin beautiful young woman with black hair and green eyes walked in, she smiled at Alexander and stood besides him, he smiled back and asked for her name. "I'm Layla, I'll accompany you in your walk to the new land and meet you at the end of the mission" she said. He shook his head to show that he agreed and understood.
Behind him was his little sister, snooping, full with curiosity, he chuckled to the sight of her, she ran to him and hugged him, "hello my little queen" whispered Alexander, she smiled, he kissed her on her forehead and held her close while talking to his father about some questions he had.
He quickly grabbed his stuff and got out of the palace, he didn't look back... Layla and him caught people's attention as they walked by, caused questions across the kingdom. Some of the kids smiled seeing that kind hearted prince they knew well. He used to stop a couple times to pick up some flowers and give them to children, with a big pure smile on the face. They all knew him to be a decent person, and a decent future king, better than his father.
While walking, he remembered the story he was writing this morning, it's a story we've all heard before, a fairytale where the man is the hero and the woman is weak and gets saved. What a cliché...
