Pre-Destined

Chapter 1

After defeating Mystique, an akumatized version of Mylene, Ladybug spent the remaining hours on a rooftop, loving the view of the Eiffel Tower at sunset. Though hurting, she kept on thinking about Adrien and Kagami, if the two lovebirds were officially a couple. Eating André’s ice cream, going to the movies, holding hands and even kissing! How Ladybug wished it was her, instead of the Japanese girl. Ladybug was carrying a pen and a paper, oblivious of how she got those and not even knowing what to do with those. Ladybug was about to leave when Chat Noir, her partner sat beside her.

”Hey there Ladybug! What are you still doing here? It’s early evening.” Chat Noir said. Not responding to Chat Noir’s words, Chat looked at Ladybug face and was surprised at what he saw. Her face was poker, not showing a hint of happiness nor sadness, just an emotionless face.

”Patrolling.”Ladybug simply said. Her tone was rather emotionless.

”Are you okay, Ladybug? You look and sound, uhhhh sad- uh no, emotionless? Do you want me to cheer you up with my cat puns?” Chat Noir asked worriedly. Ladybug looked to her left, where Chat Noir was sitting and then laid her eyes to the pen and paper on her lap.

”I just don’t know what to do, Chat. The boy that I love has someone else now. My heart hurts so much but I have to be happy to the both of them since the girl that he likes is my friend” Ladybug uttered sadly, finally showing a hint of sadness as she was on the verge of tears.

”Don’t worry Ladybug, all you have to do is to change targets if you can’t hit your current target. Besides, he doesn’t deserve your love.” Chat Noir advised. He felt very wise as he said those words, remembering that a certain someone told him those. Ladybug noticed that he wasn’t calling her M’Lady or Bugaboo anymore and decided to change the topic by bringing it up.

”Silly Kitty,” Ladybug grinned. Ladybug’s grinning face washed Chat Noir with relief. “I suppose you have a girl. Not calling me your lady or Bugaboo explains you have someone, please correct me if I’m wrong.”

”Err, maybe?” Chat Noir uttered as he laughed nervously. Chat Noir’s words somehow made Ladybug dejected. Clutching the pen and paper, Ladybug stood up and sat farther away from Chat Noir. Chat Noir was surprised by Ladybug’s actions but did nothing. Chat Noir thought that Ladybug might need some space. Ladybug clutched tightly the pen and paper near her chest and decided to use those in writing a letter to Adrien, finally telling her true feelings to him. Ladybug thought about what words should she use for the letter. She wracked her brain and finally came up with the right words. After some time, she was finally done writing and examined the paper. She then realized that there is no point in writing the letter.

”What’s the point in writing this? I can’t give this to Adrien as Marinette because I keep mixing up my words and I can’t give this as Ladybug or Adrien will figure out my identity.” Ladybug silently uttered. Ladybug crumpled the paper and threw it to a nearby trashcan, somehow forgot that Chat Noir was nearby, watching Ladybug’s movements. Chat Noir saw the thrown paper decided to get it after Ladybug will leave.

”Bug out.” Ladybug said involuntarily and used her yo-yo to swing. When Chat Noir was sure that Ladybug was nowhere to be seen, Chat Noir searched for the paper for a while and finally found it. Chat Noir held the paper for a moment, hesitating in opening the crumpled paper, scared of what secret lies written on the paper. Chat Noir then manned up and opened the paper and was surprised.

Dear Adrien,
       I was struck by your kindness since the day we met. You are the Adonis of Paris. I really like you, no, I love you Adrien but I struggled to say these words to you face-to-face. Now that you have Kagami, I have to set aside these feelings so that I won’t be a hindrance to you guys. I am super happy to the both of you!

Reading the words, it was him who Ladybug loved after all. Chat Noir was dumb-founded on the last words written in the letter.

”Written with love, Marinette. Marinette is Ladybug!” Chat Noir happily exclaimed. Then Chat Noir suddenly thought about his comments about Marinette as Adrien.
’Marinette? She is a very good friend.’
’She’s just a friend’

Chat Noir then realized why every time he sees Marinette, he feels butterflies in his stomach, the same feeling when he meets up with Ladybug as Chat Noir, every time he sees Marinette, he can’t help it but smile at her sweetly, every time he sees Marinette, he’s eager to make her happy, every time he dances with Marinette, he feels like everything is right and his whole body is synced with hers and also realized why he was so willing to kiss Marinette when Mylene was akumatized as Horrificator.

”I like Marinette, no, scratch that, I love Marinette!”
