how long have you been single?
'I've been single for over a year now, I had a boyfriend that cheated on me.' Mia grits her teeth, waving her hand in a line of over her neck. 'With one of my friends. On our last night out before lockdown.' She holds a sarcastic thumbs up with wide eyes.
'The first week of quarantine I was a hormonal mess and could not find any toilet roll or tissue for the life of me. It was a freaking nightmare.' She laughs sarcastically. 'We'd been in a relationship for about 18 months and were living together so after he cheated I changed the locks on the doors, and then we went straight into lockdown so he couldn't try to get back in even if he wanted to lol awks.' Mia giggles uncomfortably.
'Safe to say I don't think I'll ever speak to him or that "friend" again.'
what are your turn ons/turn offs?
'I'd say, a major turn off for me is someone who lies. Like, I have trust issues because boys have lying issues and that's not okay. I think a turn on is a guy who can be himself and not worry about other people's opinions of him. Not in like a cocky way, but I think as someone who's seemingly a walking stereotype; I'm smart, Asian, read comic books and am training to be a doctor, I've really had to learn to be confident in my own skin and I feel like that's such a rare thing to find in not just guys but everyone these days, when it really really shouldn't be. Another turn off is definitely someone who can't find it in themselves to be respectful to people. Whether it's someone the opposite gender, the same gender, their mate or a stranger, someone who doesn't know how to act is getting educated, because people should always learn from mistakes, and then guided towards the nearest exit.' She gestures with a slight smile.
'OH! And hairy toes. Ulgh. I can't even, they are absolutely disgusting.' She gags, closing her eyes as she shakes her head.
What three words would you use to describe yourself?
'Hmm. Definitely self-assured. I'm not here to coddle anyone and I am willing to tell hard truths, I feel like I'm quite a strong force because the profession I'm in and the environment I work in, you can't take shit from anyone and have to be confident. You could never go into an operating theatre thinking hmm, don't know if I can do this. No. There's not a chance. I'm positive as well though, I'm quite fiesty if you get on my bad side but I am still a sweetheart who wants loads of cute babies and puppies when she's older. Like I'll spend my day pretending I'm emotionless in order to get the job done more efficiently but then get home and cry at a flipping Sainsbury's advert. And lastly I think, Empowering. I like to think that I have a positive impact on people and that I don't come off as someone who's always in competition with others. There's enough shit going on in this world for people to be arguing about who has nicer eyebrows, who wore a dress better or who looks skinnier, everyone is unique and beautiful and loved as they are, there's no reason to change that. And I defo already am and will be that cockblock friend that reminds girls of their worth 24/7 and that they should never settle for guys, so.... Sorry boys.' Mia shrugs with a laugh.

I wanted to be involved in the show because I want to find someone I can connect with, who I can share a bond with and there's no better test of that than meeting in a villa in Majorca and spending 8 weeks having your relationship tested. I want to come out of this experience having gained friends, amazing memories and hopefully a perfect boy. No. A man.' She laughs, covering her face as she blushes.
Toby's phone dings as Mia's intro ends. 'I've got a text!' He reads out.
'Islanders, Mia can't wait to get to know you all. #bombshell #thelovedoctor .'
* So there you have it. Our new girl Mia will be entering the villa tonight. I just hope the boys don't get too excited- oh no, they're already jumping up and down.*
Jakes phone then dings, a text coming through. 'It's a voice note!' He hits play and Mia's voice sounds through the speakers.
'Hi boys! How are you? I've just arrived and I'd like to take you all on a date. See you soon. And don't worry, I'll make sure the champagnes flowing.'
