Chapter 1

After days of waiting, May 20 finally arrived. From today, a cosplay fair will be held in Boston, where all people will be dressed up as their favorite anime character. I started cosplaying after the quarantine started. One day I was watching videos on TikTok and I saw in 'For You' a guy cosplaying Levi Ackerman, my favorite character from Attack on Titan. His cosplay was great, so I decided to look at his other TikToks on his profile. The name of the cosplayer I'm referring to is Ray, but on TikTok and Instagram he is also known as Assckerman. From that moment on I decided to make cosplay videos myself. I've always had a lot of fun making them. Most of my videos are based on the cosplay of Hanji Zoe, another Attack on Titan character. During the quarantine my life was monotonous and boring, but after meeting Ray I didn't miss a single one of his lives. It was one of the only fun moments in my day. I would have loved to have met him someday, but I knew it would be a pipe dream.
I don't have many friends. Many of them abandoned me and others even stabbed me in the back, for these reasons I began to distrust more and more of the people around me.
I arrived at the fair and started looking at the stalls where the accessories and clothes of my favorite anime were displayed. It was my first fair of this kind and I was very excited to be there. The fair was huge and it was very busy. There wasn't a person who wasn't cosplaying. It was beautiful! I was so busy looking around that I bumped into someone's arm.
Y/n: "I'm sorry, I did not wanted to-"
I looked up and as soon as I saw who it was I froze. It was Ray dressed in his classic Levi cosplay.
Ray: "Don't worry, it's normal to bump into someone when there are so many people around."
Y/n: "I follow you on TikTok and Instagram, can we take a picture together?"
Ray: "Sure"
We posed side by side and took a selfie.
Y/n: "Thank you Ray!"
Ray: "You're welcome.  Um ... Sorry, what's your name?"
Y/n: "My name is Y/n."
Ray: "It was nice to meet you Y/n."
Y/n: "The pleasure was-" I was interrupted by a loudspeaker.
"The Corps Dance Crew show will start in 10 minutes."
Y/n: "I have to hurry or I'll be late. On their Instagram stories they said they would do a show based on the Attack on Titan anime."
Ray: "Really?"
Y/n: "Yup."
Ray: "Would you like to go and watch the show together? I'm curious to see what they will do."
Y/n: "Sure!" I answered smiling. He smiled back and we headed to the place where the show was to be held.
Most of the chairs were occupied, but we managed to find two free chairs in the fifth row. We sat down and waited for the show to begin.

I was delighted to see their performance.
Y/n: "They were amazing!"
Ray: "Yeah, they're very talented."
Y/n: "Have you seen the Hanji cosplayer? In my opinion she was the best!"
Ray: "You're right, but one of Mike's cosplayer's latest moves was also cool."
Y/n: "Yeah. I didn't think it would be this fun. I haven't been cosplaying very long and this is my first event of this kind."
Ray: "Did you start cosplaying during quarantine?"
Y/n: "Yup. Making TikTok in cosplay was my way to have fun and pass the time."
We kept talking and every now and then we stopped in front of some stall that interested us. We stopped in front of a stand full of The Promised Neverland accessories. I started to feel thirsty, so I decided to go and get some tea at a nearby stand.
Y/n: "Ray I'm going to get some tea, will I get one for you too?"
Ray: "Yes, thanks."
I lined up for tea.

-Ray Pov-

I finished looking at The Promised Neverland stall and went near the tea stand. With such a long line Y/n will take a couple of minutes to get our teas. I picked up the phone and started watching some of her TikToks. Her cosplays are very beautiful, she deserves to have more followers. I immediately noticed the great passion she put into all the videos, not to mention that she had a lot of fun.
About 15 minutes passed and finally Y/n arrived with the two glasses of tea in hand.
Y/n: "Here, sorry if I made you wait."
Ray: "You do not have to apologise. I saw the line that was there."
She handed me one of the glasses and I started drinking the tea.

-Y/n Pov-

I was drinking my tea when at one point my cell phone rang. I checked who was calling me. It was Zoe, my best friend.
Y/n: "Hey."
Zoe: "Hey Y/n! I thought we should go celebrate your birthday at the club, are you okay with that?"
Y/n: "Zoe is okay with me celebrating my birthday at home too, and you know that I'm not much of a club girl."
Zoe: "Come on, please~"
Y/n: "Zoe-"
Zoe: "I swear we will have fun!"
I sighed slightly.
Y/n: "Alright, fine."
Zoe: "Yayyyy! I can not wait! Byeeeee!"
Y/n: "By- And she hung up."
Ray: "Is it your birthday soon?"
Y/n: "Yes, it's May 24th."
Ray: "I'm sure you will have fun at the club. I haven't been there for a while. I used to go there once a year for things like halloween or shit like that."
Y/n: "Really?"
Ray: "Yeah. Right now I want to focus on contents, even if I've been very stressed lately. With the move, my neighbors... I also quit my job because I was working too long shifts."
Y/n: "I understand... I saw the stories on instagram. It doesn't have to be easy."
If only there was something I could do to help him in some way...
Y/n: "Listen... would you like to come to the party for my birthday?"
What did I say?! Damn what an embarrassment! We met a few hours ago and I invited him to my birthday! Who knows what he's thinking right now...
Y/n: "Maybe it could be a way to indulge you. You said you're stressed, so I thought-"
I took a slight sigh.
Y/n: "Nevermind..."
Ray: "I don't think that's a bad idea..."
I looked at him in disbelief.
Ray: "What's your nickname on instagram?"
Y/n: "It's I/n (Instagram nickname)."
Ray: "Alright. Send me a message on direct to tell me the place and the time."
He said the last sentence looking up and smiling. His smile would be able to melt even an iceberg.
Y/n: "Okay."
A smile formed on my lips.

Time skip

I got home and threw myself on the bed. I closed my eyes and thought about what had happened at the fair. I still can't believe I met Ray. He will also come to my birthday party! I've always believed that if one day I ran into him I would start screaming, but it was different. I felt calm, like I was with Zoe. I can't wait for my birthday to come to see him again.
