chapter four

Ragini was fidgeting with her fingers, sanskar sighs seeing her nervousness and continues driving his car.
" Ragini you will be alright, just be confident" sanskar says to her, she instead stares at him with accusing eyes which sanskar ignores. She was first upset with him for getting her admitted in the university and now she is half upset and half scared about the interview round. Anyway he has prepared her properly and took her mock interview twice so that I will not be a problem.
" Will they send me back to India if I don't clear this?" She asks him in a low voice.
" Ragini you're not going anywhere and  can you focuses on your interview instead of worrying about unnecessary things" Sanskar says to her as softly as he could says, Ragini nods at his words but the nervousness has still not totally vanished. She looked out of the window to distract herself, it had been two days she had come to new place though still not fully accustomed she was still adjusting to the place. The last two days had gone away quickly, sanskar prepared her with all the knowledge needed to clear her interview, he worked on her body language and took her mock interview twice which she cleared very well. The times she was not preparing she arranged her new room, learned to use her new iPhone with the help of user manual and practiced with her new sitar.  She was surprised when sanskar had gotten her a new sitar but she was grateful, if here was anything which could soothe her pain and make her okay it was her music. Sanskar pulled over the car outside the university breaking ragini out of her musing. Ragini became anxious looking at the huge place outside, she looks at sanskar wanting to tell him to take her back but he had fetched her bag pack and gave it to her. She took a deep breath trying to calm herself down and undid her seat belt. She finally opened the car door and moved out. Sanskar unlocked his car door and came out. Ragini was holding all her documents in a  file and was looking so nervous.
" Ragini, why are you so nervous?"  He asks her looking straight into her eyes.
" Sanskar.... I have never done this before. Can we go back?" Ragini asks, her hands were shaking in fear looking at the huge campus.
" Everything has first time" he insists but ragini looks down silently.
Sensing that ragini was not going to go in, sanskar grabbed her shoulders making her look at him in shock "Stop portraying yourself weak, you're not weak. You have survived the betrayal of both your sister and your fiance bravely, you have put up with the wrath of your family alone. This interview is nothing in front of the pain you have experienced"
An other type of pain engulfs ragini when she remembers laksh and swara, two people whom she blindly trusted and got betrayed by them in a horrible way.  Sanskar was right, she had already gone through worse, nothing would compare to it. She swallows her pain and nods silently at sanskar's words. Sanskar sighs in relief thinking that his words had some effect on her atleast.
She takes a few steps ahead but halts her moment and turns towards sanskar.
" You are not coming with me?"
Sanskar stops the urge to go with her and shakes his head negatively indicating that she has to go ahead herself. Ragini looks hurt but nods her head and goes in summoning every ounce of courage she possessed.

Sanskar felt bad that he refused to accompany Ragini inside the campus but he had brought her here to get her rid of laksh's thoughts not to make her dependent on him. She needed to take this small steps alone he concludes but He could not stop himself from being anxious now that he has send her inside that too alone, it was her first day he should have seriously gone inside with her. Her interview will not take half an hour if she doesn't come out by that time he will go in, he decides. He keeps looking at the watch every five seconds only to see the time moving so slowly. Finally after  half an hour passed, sanskar was going to rush inside the campus when his eyes caught hold of her face. He sighs inwardly finding her all okay but then notices that she looked very upset.
" Ragini what happened?" he asks her worried, she looks at him with her fallen face, she hands him over some envelope and looks away from him.
Sanskar anxiously opens the envelope quickly and finds her acceptance letter which university had given her informing about her schedule and classes, Ragini who had bit her cheeks to stop herself laughing burst into laughter looking at sanskar's expressions.
" You should have seen yourself when I you I got you the envelope" ragini said in between her laughs.
" It was not funny" sanskar says offended.
" Serves you right for letting me go alone inside" Ragini says to him.
" Hey, I'm sorry for that" he tells her feelings so stupid for doing something like that. Ragini looks at him wide eyed but doesn't say anything. They drive back but this time Ragini was not silent, sanskar realizes Ragini has fallen in love with the campus of her college because she kept describing it all the way. He halts the car, making ragini to pause her talk for a moment wondering how have they reached his mansion this soon. She frowns when she finds sanskar had halted his car in some unfamiliar place, before she could ask him. He had already gotten out of the car, ragini does the same.
" Why are we here?" She asked confused, he had parked outside some lake but sanskar sighs her to be silent. Ragini groaned in frustration of not getting any answers and stood next to him looking at the scenery. It was beautiful but nothing extraordinary that sanskar stopped the car all of sudden but then sun started setting and she watched awestruck by the beauty as the light faded.
" This is beautiful" she exclaimes still captivated by the beauty she witnessed.
" I know" sanskar tells to her, a smile tugged on the corner of his mouth which he could not hid inspite of trying to. Sanskar doesn't understand why he had brought ragini here, this was one of the places he had discovered when he had wanted loneliness and he feels so uncomfortable sharing this to anyone but with Ragini he doesn't feel the same uncomfortablity and he doesn't even know the reason maybe it was because he had found a genuine friend in her or was it guilt which is making him behave him such way or was it something...else, he shakes his head not thinking in that direction.
