Derpy in Reverse

Chapter III

Derpy's POV:

   I sat down on the sofa, My new friend next to me. He looked confused, most likely at all the romance happening around us.
   "Everything okay, Time-Turner?" I asked, wanting to break the ice.
   "Yeah. I'm just confused, is all." He muttered. He shifted his wings, to adjust the jacket. I soon realized he was a pegasis, same as me.
   "Hey," I said, nudging him, "Follow me." I spread my wings, and took off to the door, hoping he was following.
   I knew of a place in the sky, where you could see everything in Ponyville. I looked below, and saw Time-turner struggling to keep up. It seemed to confuse me, as I was probably the worst flier ever.
   "Do. You. Think that. You. Could. Possibly. Slow down?" He said, through heavy breathing as he caught up. I smirked, and extended my hoof. He grabbed it, and I began to pull him up.
   "You can fly too." I muttered.
   "Oh, Sorry." Time-turner gasped.
   We eventually go to the large cloud building. He gasped, as if he knew where we were.
   "You brought me to the Rainbow Factory?!?" He yelled at me.
   "Time, Calm down. Its just the rainbow factory." I said.
   "They grind fillies." He whispered. I facehoofed.
    "No, They don't; Wanna know how I know? Because I bucking work here!" I screamed.
   "But..." He started. I cut him off with the wave of my hoof. I bit his short tail, and dragged him inside.
   "Look." I whisper-yelled, annoyed," Do you see any grinding wheels? Do you see captive children? Do you see bloody workers?" I pointed at employees looking over vats of water. Some fixing the large overhead magic crystals that made the water rainbow.
  "No." He said, embarrassed.
   "Wanna know why fillies come here, never to return? Because this job, is so poorly respected, if they ever go back outside, they would be teased, hurt so badly, they would rather die, commit suicide, then deal with it. Fillies that came here to support their poor, starving families. Don't start with that filly-grinding bull." I coldly said, staring him down.
   "I'm sorry." He whispered, looking down.
   "Do you want to see how it works?" I asked, to brighten his spirits. He nodded.
   "First, the rainbow factory collects the excess water from Cloudsdale. They store it in those eight large vats. We found, last century, these crystals in a cave, that, when light shone through them, turned the substance on the other side rainbow colored. My job, is to switch those crystals when they wear out. Lucky me, I've only bucked up once." I laughed, showing him the inside of my front left hoof. It was bright yellow.
   "Where did the myth of grinding bodies come from?" Time-turner asked.
  "When they ground bodies." I shrugged.
   "What? You just said..."
    "Once Luna was banished to the moon, Celestia tasked the pegasi with making rainbows. There was a huge argument, but eventually, Pegasisian council decided to hold donation events. That's why, until Luna came back, rainbows were special. Now, we have an unlimited resource."
   "Donation events?" He said, confused.
   "Mostly, ponies at the end of their life, or ponies deep struck with pain from disease would 'donate' themselves. Celestia, how brave." I said, in awe.
   "That must have hurt."
   "I started working here as a teen. Luna came back last year. I was the newbie, so I was stuck with the injections. Its hard. They would help you, tell you its okay." I felt a tear slide down, but continued," And then, their last words would be some sort of joke, so you wouldn't feel so bad. A unicorn, about thirty, serious intestine cancer, Hurt him so bad, he came in, offering to be the next color blue. What a riot. But, when he thought nopony was looking, he would let the pain he suppressed show through. I was the one who ended his life, but ended his pain too, if ya think like that. He looked at me, as I did the injection, and said, 'Enjoy some colors on me'. "
   "What was his name?" Time-turner asked, looking me in the eye. I quickly looked away.
   "I'll never know." I felt an arm wrap around me. I smiled at my friend. "Let me show you what I actually brought you up here to see." He chuckled.

   I sat at the edge of the cloud. Time-turner looked over the edge. I heard him gasp, and I giggled.
   "That's-" He said, in awe.
   "That's everything."" I finished for him. He looked like he just found the cure for cancer.
   "I got something I wanna show you too." He laughed, grabbing my hoof. Thank goodness he didn't see me blush.
   Time-turner flew much better going down, then up, like most pegasi. He gained speed, causing me to let go. I pointed my nose, becoming more streamline to catch up. I soon passed him, so i spread my wings, causing minor drag. I looked up, to see Time, wings folded, to catch up with me. I knew the horror on my face matched his. He opened his wings, but not fast enough. SLAM!!! We crashed into the dirt road.
   "Crap!" I quickly apologised. "Are you okay?" I looked over to Time-turner.
   "Am I okay? You broke my fall. Are you okay?" He looked concerned.
   "I'm fine. I thought you broke my fall." I said, confused.
   "Your both welcome!" Lyra shouted, not less than three feet away.
   "For what?" Scoffed Time-turner.
    "I used my magic to create a barrier for you to fall on." Lyra rolled her eyes.
   "Thank you, Lyra." I nodded curtly.
   "Yeah, Thanks," He murmured. Lyra rolled her eyes, and trotted off.
   "What was it that you wanted to show me?" I asked.
   "Since I assume neither of us want to fly for awhile, follow me." He laughed. I quickened my pace to follow after him.
