"I-I can't run anymore," I wince in pain at my wound, clutching the side of my stomach to stop it from bleeding any further.

"But you can! Just a little more," her face filled with a worried expression.

I hate seeing her like this.

"My Rose, do me a favour and go without me."

"Do it, hurry! Before they find us," I exclaimed as I pass my gun to her shaking hand.

Footsteps are getting louder. You can hear the forest floor leaves rustling accompanied by dogs barking.

"But I can't leave you alone! I can't do this! We promised to always be together! You told me that..." Tears  are now streaming down her face.

Leaning & sliding down against a tree, I pulled her in my embrace.  My hand stroking her now very tangled red hair. Stroking her hair has always been my favourite thing do. I remembered the times we laid on the grass with her head on my lap, laughing at her stupid & cheesy jokes. Oh, how I wish I could do that again.

"Nancy?" Her voice squeak still choking back her tears

"What is it, my Rose?"

"If you go, I'll go. I rather die than live in this cruel world without you."

"But.."

"No, buts. Take this, we'll do it together," her favourite knife is now in the palm of my hand. The knife that has killed countless of bad people but despite all of that, the name "Roseanna" is still beautifully carved on the handle.

With that, I put the knife on her throat while my gun is pointed on my head. The person holding it is none other than the woman I love
so dearly.

"I love you, Nancy." she said one last time

"I love you too, my Rose."

"Police! Show yourself!"

"Now!"
