"Anyone gonna make dinner?" Rachel asks as her stomach growls for the third time

"If you're so hungry, why don't you get off your ass and make it yourself." Angelo suggests

"Excuse me?" Rachel doesn't believe his tone. Just this morning he'd went on about all the things he loved about her.  "Why are you being so salty all of a sudden, I was only asking."

"I'm just not in the mood, ok?"

Not in the mood? That's no excuse to speak to her like that.

"It seems no-one is." Emma admits

"Besides, I'm not even hungry." Angelo pulls his cap low over his head and drifts off into a light snooze.

"Fine, whatever. I'll just eat a Pot Noodle or something. Reese-!"

"We're out of them." Reese answers

"But I thought-"

"Yeah, we did pack loads, but the rest have disappeared. Must've been taken by bears or something."

Rachel slouched in her seat. There would be no dinner tonight.

"Man this trip's been awful." She huffs

"No sh!t sherlock." Emma mutters

"So, like... is anyone gonna call the police about Marco?"

"Tried already. No cell service here."

Then there was an awkward silence.

"Guys, what the f*ck are we doing? Marco's dead, Polly's gone, his killer might still be roaming around the forest, and we're probably their next targets. Are we seriously just going to sit around like none of it ever happened?"

"Well what do you expect us to do, Emma? We're not exactly the Avengers, are we? I'm still in shock." Reese argues

"You're in shock? You're not the one who found his body rotting in the f*cking soil!"

Things got heated very quickly

"He was everyone's friend. We're all entitled to feel a little upset."

"If you treated him like he was, we wouldn't be in this mess in the first place."

That silenced the both of them.

They both knew they were equally as responsible for Marco's death.

They had no entitlement to remorse.

Because they had killed him

They

Killed

Marco.

"I- I'm sorry, that was uncalled for." Emma apologised

"S'alright."

"Should we try looking for Polly? She could be in danger out there."

"Honestly, I really want to, but I think we're the last people she wants to see right now."

"Yeah."

"God, this whole thing is tearing us apart, just look at us." They both contemplated the thought for a while. He was right, they were falling apart.

"Reese?"

"Yeah?"

"I'm scared."

"It's gonna be ok, don't worry," He walked over to her and hugged tight, as a couple of teardrops began falling onto his shoulder "So am I."

AN: Hi readers! Sorry, another short chapter, but I've been suffering from a bit of writer's block lately. Also this chapter is just a kind of filler chapter before the POV! Anyways, how've you found the book so far? Remember to vote and comment as always. Ly x
